DearAll,I have been to Singapore severaltimes, but this timeisquitedifferent. After attending theEagleLeadershipSeminarthispastweek,itwasquiteaneye-openingoccasion.

Several leadership lessonswere taught and shared. Buttheone that stoodout themost tomewas theOpeningSpeechofthisevent. We know how Singapore as a country andSingaporean people play a major role in GlobalDevelopment. This 50 year-old country, a small island, has had an amazing story. Singapore has shown how asmall country can take charge and lead the world inseveralaspects.Herearesomeofthetopicsandissuesweheard,mainlyaboutpeople.ItallbeganwiththePeople.

People Management •Dowe care enough tomake our people grow? •Weneedtocontinueengageourpeopleusingasustainablemodel. •Aslongasaleaderkeepsspaceforengagementopen, heorshecanlead. • People follow not because you are capable orperfect…theyfollowbecausetheytrust. • When people are engaged, they change…butmoreimportantly, wechange. •Itisnotonlyaboutdoing, itisallabouthowyoumakeyourpeoplefeel. •Trust can only be created through fundamentalengagement.

The Conclusion That is how we begin. Adding value brings ussustainablechange.Bybeginningwithcaringforothersandengagingwiththem,wewillcreatetrustwithpeople.Thenpeoplewillfollow,allowingforthecreationofsustainableleadership. These are the lessons I have learned from theMinistry of Manpower of Singapore. In his openingspeech, hesystematicallyandsmoothlyput thesepointssowell.Itwasoneofthemostimpressivespeechesduringthispastweek.Undeniably,weknowthatPeoplearethemostvaluableassettoacountry. At The Prince Royal’s College, the people hereare all the stakeholders of P.R.C.’s campus, students,parents,teachers,staff,alumni,etc.WecantrulyapplythelessonsfromSingaporetoP.R.C.andourpersonallives.Nomatterwhatwe do,whowe are,we can’t deny theimportanceofengagingthePeople.Wecanmakeourlivessuccessful or miserable based from how we deal withother people. It is common sense. It is fundamental. Itis the truth.Yet is often ignored, misunderstood, or notimplemented at all.And after all, it all beginswith thePeople.

Sincerelyyours,SpainJingkaojaiSchoolManager

端午节(Dragon Boat Festival)
