FORWARD

Many young people in the world today live in countries ravaged by war, famine and oppression . The struggle to achieve a peaceful world is a life long dream s~ared by millions of young people and adults all over the world. As part of its commitment to promoting world peace and human understanding, the Scout Association of Australia invited its youth members to share their dreams and prayers for the future. During a two week period surrounding International Day of Peace in 1995, young people aged between 7 and 26 from around Australia mailed, faxed, emailed and telephone their 'Prayers For The Future'. This book contains a selection of those prayers. Most have been included in an unedited form, reflecting the words, spelling and thoughts of the children themselves.

We hope that these prayers will provide a basis for Scouts , and other young people, all over Australia to ;oin in the dream of a peaceful world.
