    THE 10/40 WINDOW

THE 10/40 WINDOW is a rectangular-shaped area extending

from West Africa to East Asia, from ten degrees south to forty degreesnorth of the equator.Nearly 4 billion people live here, including 90 percent of the world'spoorest of the poor. It is estimated that 1.6 billion of these people havenever had the chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ - not evenonce! The seat of every major non-Christian religion - Islam, Buddhism,Hinduism, Animism, Atheism, and Sikhism - is headquartered in the10/40 Window. In many of the 68 countries represented in the 10/40 Window, witnessing the Christian Gospel means death. Truly, the 10/40 Window

remains the darkest and most inhospitable territory to the cause ofChrist and represents the greatest remaining stronghold of Satan. Two-thirds of the world's population (4 billion) live in the 68 nations ofthe 10/40 Window.

    THE 10/40 WINDOW

95% of the people are unevangelized. 90% of the people are the poorest of the poor, averaging $250 perfamily annually. 43 of the 50 worst countries in the world for persecution of Christiansare here.

Only five pennies out of every $100 spent on missions goes to thisdesperately needy area of the world. Illiteracy is widespread. Terrorist organizations and child prostitution run rampant in many ofthese nations. Horrific abuse of women and children remains unchecked. Children as young as 18 months old are trained to be Jihad.

    Philippine Missionary Institute (PMI)

The PhilippineMissionary Institute (PMI) started as a result of theregular Summer Camps for young people which began in 1957 by theworkers ofPhilippineMissionary Fellowship, Inc. (PMF) at Cavite. Before the Summer Camp of 1960 ended, 12 of the young peoplecommitted themselves to prayer for a bible school. Through the staff of

that Camp, they requested the PMF Board of Directors to start a regulartraining school so they could prepare themselves for rural missionarywork in a rural pioneering setting. However, PMF was not ready to starta regular Bible school. But seeing both the enthusiasm of those youngpeople and the commitment ofPastor Arsenio Dominguez, the PMFBoard approved the start of the Bible School.

Bible, Christian books and a variety of Christian media. Our teams aredrawn from many nations, denominations and backgrounds. All arededicated to serving the Lord Jesus Christ and to the task of helpingothers to know Him better through the materials we distribute.

bookshops, 18 distribution warehouses and 18 publishing houses. TheCLC work in each country is set up independently. We are united by ourcommon vision, goals and International Constitution.

However, CLC is more than a chain of bookshops, rather it is our desireto see people's lives changed though making evangelical literature

available to all nations so that people may come to faith and maturity inChrist. It is an established fact that a large percentage of peopleconverting to Christianity do so through the reading of a Christianbook.

-Pray for the work of CLC in your country and around the world.

    Philippine Christian Bookstore

The Philippine Christian Literature Inc. (PCLI) and its ministry, the

Philippine Christian BookStores (PCBS) began as a vision of twomissionaries who recognized the important role that Christian literatureplays in the spiritual growth of a Christian. It all started when a missionarycouple, Alfie and May Johnston, came to the Philippines in 1952, threeyears after China fell into the hands of the Communists in 1949.Under the China Inland Mission, (which later evolved into the Overseas

Missionary Fellowship) the Johnstons started publishing Christian tractsand booklets along with other missionaries inManila. So intense was theircalling to distribute and make Christian literature available to as manypeople as possible that they even went to the extent of displaying theirgoods right along the sidewalks ("banketas") ofManila. As the demand for high-quality Christian literature steadily increased, the

need for a more structured organization of the Christian literature ministrybecame more and more evident. Thus, the OMF Publishers was establishedin 1957. During the same year, it opened its first bookstore called the GoodNews Book Center in Calapan, Mindoro. The second bookstore calledChristian Book Supply opened shortly afterwards along Herran St. cornerTaft Avenue. Two years later, a third bookstore was opened in Baguio City in

    1959.
