PRASHNA NOTES

1. Prasna is generated within the sub-conscious mind and not created.

A Prasna normally holds sway for one year only.

2. The exact wording of the Prasna is important. The body language of

the querist is also important.

3. Shakun (like sudden happenings, power-cut, a glass of water spills

over) is the indication of the nature of the Prasna and these shakuns

are omens should be watched carefully while dealing with Prasna.

4. Prasna is secondary to the main horoscope. Prasna chart should

never be dealt without the natal chart, if available. If the natal chart is

not available then a chart for the moment should be casted. The natal

chart should be depended upon more than the Prasna chart. In the

Prasna chart

a. If the Lagna is moveable then- the incident is going to happen.

The change could be for good or for bad.

b. If the Lagna is fixed then- the situation will remain the same.

c. If the Lagna is moveable --it shows success after difficulty.

5. Methods for analyzing Prasna are Tajik and Vimshottari.

6. If a Prasna has come to the mind at 2 AM midnight and the Prasna is

put to astrologer after a week then both the charts the reveal thesame.

7. Suppose a person puts a Prasna from a place A to an astrologer

sitting at B the place for casting Prasna will be B.

8. The antardasa/Pratyantar dasa of the natal chart will show what

problem one is undergoing.

9. Prasna should always be done for short range problems.

10.Shirshodaya Rasis i.e. 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11 rising shows - Success of the

Prasna.

11.Prishtodaya Rasis i.e. 1, 2, 4, 9, 10 rising shows failure of the Prasna.

12. Ubhayodaya Rasi i.e. rising shows success with much difficulty.

13.Some of the areas where Prasna can be applied are

a. Theft

b. Missing person (the condition of the person whether willing to

come back or not).

c. Illness (whether the illness will be cured or not, drugs would

work or not, etc).

d. Marriage (when, how and whom)

e. Progeny (possibility)

f. Profession (continue or change)

g. Litigation.

h. Any other Prasna.

i. Mook Prasna.

14. Whether the Prasna is sincere or insincere Prasna.

15. Insincere Prasna

a. Moon in Lagna shows weakness of the Prasna.

b. Saturn in Kendra (aspects the Lagna so the mind of the Prasna

Karta is not pure).

c. Mercury is combust.

d. Moon in Lagna aspected by Mars.e. Seventh Lord aspected by Jupiter and Mercury and a planet

inimical to seventh lord (in this combination the querist has the

knowledge of Prasna Shastra).

16. Sincere Prasna

a. Whenever Lagna or 7thhouse is aspected by Moon, Jupiter or

Mercury. This shows that the mind of the Prasna Karta is also

involved in the Prasna.

b. Arudha Lagna there are number of ways to arrive at the

Arudha Lagna.

c. One way is to ask the querist to choose a number between 1 to

108. For example, 56. We divide 56 by 9, we get quotient of 6

and remainder 2. That means 6 Rasis have passed and Thula

Lagna is running and 2nd navamsa is Arudha Lagna.

17. In case, there are multiple questions, then

a. The Ist question is seen from the Lagna.

b. 2nd question is seen from Moon.

c. 3rd question is seen from Sun.

d. 4th question is seen from Jupiter.

e. 5th question is seen from Venus or Mercury whichever is

stronger.

f. 6th question is seen from weaker between Venus or Mercury

(i.e., the second planet left over after question 5).

18. More than 3 questions are not feasible from the same Prasna

Kundali. For further three questions a separate Prasna Kundali has to

be cast.

General principles of Prasna

1. See the Lagna. Whether Shirshodaya (3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11) considered

auspicious, less difficulties.

2. Prishtodaya Rasis ( 1, 2, 4, 9, 10 ).

3. Ubhayodaya Rasis (12).

4. Fixed Lagnas things will not change.

5. Moveable Lagnas things will change.

6. Dual Rasis if Moon is less than 15, it is towards *********

7. For litigation and travel, moveable Lagna is good.8. In litigation, malefics in Lagna is good and benefics in 7H.

9. Benefics in Kendra Konas are good.

10. Number of benefics in Kendra/kona; number of malefics in

Kendra/kona whichever is more will result accordingly.

11. Tiryang mukha any sign occupied by Sun or its trine.

12. Adhomukhi left by Sun.

13. Urdhava mukha sign to be occupied by Sun.

14. Benefics in Kendra kona, malefics in 3/6/10/11.15. 8H & 12H preferably vacant.

16. Biped signs 3/6/7/11

17. Benefics in 1(honour)/2(wealth)/5 good for *******

18. Planets in Exaltation, Moolatrikona, and friendly house will enhance

the signification of the Bhava.

Missing Person

Date: 30/9/1996 Time: 06:48 pm Place :New Delhi

Char Lagna is rising aspected by Jupiter. But LL is debilitated in 4H

which is returned to the house. Prishtodaya Lagna is aspected by benefic

and bad but balanced by Jupiter. Malefics Rahu/Sun in 6H, Saturn/Ketu in

12H and Mars in 4H is bad. Char Lagna shows condition is likely to change.

Prishtodaya Lagna is aspected by Jupiter so the chances are enhanced. LL

is debilitated in Kendra (4H).

Rule:Benefics in 3/5/7/11, Malefics in 3/6/10/11.See Moon: Moon should be strong.

Here Moon is Gemini in an inimical Rasi and aspected by Jupiter (+ve) but

Moon is in enemy Rasi. Sun has left Leo and is about to enter Thula.

In case of return of a person the 4H is important and benefic planets should

be in Kendra from it. Here no planets are in Kendra to 4H. And 4L has gone

to 12H from it. It shows that there is loss of return of the person. Further,

trines from 4H are occupied by Saturn/Ketu.

Vargottama Lagna Prasna.

Leo is aspected by LL strong malefic, Saturn in 6H and 8H with

Moon/Ketu/Mercury aspected by Saturn and in Rahu/Ketu axis.

Moon in Prasna Lagna is not auspicious. Amavasya Prasna is good.

LL is 6/8/12 or vice versa there are for failure.

Dispositer of LL in 6/8/12 is negative aspect. 8 and 12this empty free from malefic influence is good.

Malefic in Kendra/Kona

Malefic influences on L, LL and Karyesh and Karya Bhava.

Debilitated, combust or inimical planet in a house destroys the

significations of the house.

Planets defeated in planetary war by malefics.

Any planet debilitated/inimical or 7th from its Moolatrikona will not

give result of the house where it is posited.

Malefics in Kendra/Kona from Karya Bhava.

Moon in 8H from natal Lagna.

Tiryang mukh or adhomukh Lagna.

Relationship between Lagna Lord and Karyesh should be good.

If a retrograde planet aspects Lagna or Karyesh especially when it is

in 12H.

Aspect on Lagna will create hindrances.

See the trouble axis:

In the e.g., it is 6/12 axis. This can happen in other houses also. See

the houses where maximum affliction and trouble is.

If a retrograde planet, aspects Karyesh it will cause hindrances.

When Rahu/Ketu are associated with Karyesh/Lagnesh then it is

unfavourable and gives failure.

Whichever planet aspects Lagna in close degree Prasna is related to

that planet. Karakatwa and houses owned by that planet. In the e.g.,

the planet which has just entered into a Rashi and within one degree

********** and is an ******* that whatever is the likely circumstances

good or bad is likely to continue. If the planet is in Rashi Lagna the

situation is likely to change relating to that sign.

Traveler or Missing Person

1. The Lagna is the Missing person or Traveler. 4H is the happiness or

well being of the person, and it is also the place.

2. The 7H is the path that the person has taken, the difficulty in way.

3. The 2H will include the family.

4. The houses 5th to 10th are the outward journey. And the houses11th to 4th are the return of the person.

5. Return: If slow moving planets i.e. Jupiter & Saturn aspect the fixed

Lagna then there is likely return of the person.

6. when will he return:

If benefics are in 7H - then the person is safe.

If Malefics in Lagna- then the person is facing problems.

Moon, Lagna and Karyesh

If there is a benefic in 4H then there is no journey and immediate

return of the person.

4H is the stable situation of the person.

Moon in 4H means that the traveler has returned home. Go and

see.

Benefic in 10H means no journey and no return. Benefics aspect

4H no return.

In the example chart

- Lagna is ok.

- LL is in Subh-kartari

- 7H is OK but 7L is in paap Kartari.

- LL being in Subh-kartari shows that the person is happy.

7. No Journey or no return

- If Moon is in 7H and in Subh-kartari the person is forced not to

travel.

- If Moon in 7H is between Malefics the person is not being allowed

to move.

- If Sun or Jupiter, Venus Mercury are in 12H then no return.

- Fixed Lagna with malefic aspect no return

- Fixed Lagna with Malefics in 5, 6, 7Hs no return- LL in houses 11 to 4 and Malefics in Kendra- no return.

- Moon in 10H - no return

- 1st house (Lagna) is Traveler, 4H is the place of return, if 7H is

traveler then 10H is some other place and; Moon in 10H shows the

person is safe there and happy.

- LL in 2H or 8H having Itsaal with planet in 10H Safe return

8. Safe return combinations

- Benefics (Jup, Ven, Moon, Mer) in 2, 3, 5 houses then safe return.

Look at the strength of these benefics too.

- Especially 4H in Chara Rasi sign in the Rasi or Navamsa then

safe return.

- Moon in 7H in Chara Rasi then the person is on his way back

home.

- Moon in 7H and 7L in 2ndhalf of a sign ( i.e. more than 15)

- Moon in Lagna with LL which is Retrograde are in Itsaal with

Retrograde planet.

- LL in 3H or 9H; and has Itsaal with planet in Lagna means the

traveler has started his return journey already.

- LL in 12H having Itsaal with Moon. (In a Prashna Itsaal of LL with

Moon or Itsaal of LL with 11L is a positive indication). LL in 12H

here is loss of that situation so the person will return positively.

- Benefics in Kendra (except 10H) even if Moon in 12H.

- Benefics in 2, 3, 8, 9 houses in Chara Rasis (for Dual & Sthira

Rasis)

- Benefics or Sun in 11H.

- Benefics in Kendra/Kona and any planet in 6H or 7H.

9. Combination for State of happiness

- If Moon is in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10H with a benefic- then the traveler is

happy.

- Venus or Mercury in 8H or 11H ( happy but there is some

problem)

- Lagna having good influences the person is happy there. But if theLL is ill-placed the person himself is causing problem (own doing)

10. Difficulties to the Traveler.

- Prishtodaya Lagna (1, 2, 4, 9, 10) aspected by Malefics and;

Malefics in 5, 7, 9 houses. Specially malefic in 7H

- Mars or Saturn in 8H or there is PAC by malefic. Here there is

danger to the person also

- Moon/Sun in 8H aspected by Saturn- shows danger to traveler.

11. Illness to traveler

- Prishtodaya Lagna with malefic in Kendra/kona and Sun in 9H-

may have fever.

- Saturn in 9H aspected by Malefics.

- Durudhara yoga in 6H the person is suffering from illness or

thieves.

12. Death of missing person.

- Prishtodaya Lagna aspected by Malefics only; and Malefics in 6, 8,

12.

- Same as above but with afflicted Mercury in 6H.

- LL or Moon or debilitated in 6, 8, 12 houses having Itsaal with 8L

without benefic aspects.

- Benefic in 6, 8, 12 aspected by malefic; luminaries also afflicted

- Moon in 1, 2, 3 houses aspected by Malefics and without any

benefic aspect.

- Moon in 4H unaspected by benefic; having Itsaal with a retrograde

planet. Prashna of return does not arise.

- Saturn in 8H conjunct or aspected by Malefics

- Malefics aspecting Lagna, Moon and 4H; and LL in 6, 8, 12

houses.

13. Person in captivity.

- If Lagna or LL is in Papa Kartari or hemmed between Malefics.

- If Lagna or LL is hemmed between lords of 6, 8, 12.

- Saturn in 4, 5, 8 houses conjunct or aspected by Malefics.

- Benefics occupying or aspecting Lagna and moveable Lagna-

captivity for short term; Fixed Lagna -***** Dual Lagna-*****

- Malefics in L or 7H or 4, 5, 8, 9 - then also captivity.

- Benefic in L, 7H and LL influenced by benefic.

- Malefics in 9th or 12th from Lagna or LL there are obstacles or

troubles.

- Malefics in Kendras trouble to the native. Suppose Saturn ----

- Malefics in 7H or 8H- specially if Mars trouble could be torture or

captivity depending upon the number of ****

- Malefics in 3H not aspected by benefics the person has shifted

from that place and not likely to return.- When a slow moving planet aspects Lagna then there is delay in

return of the person.

- Jupiter, Venus, Mercury in 4H- then immediate return of the

person.

- Whenever 7L will get retrograde then during that period :

If Lagna is moveable and 7L in moveable then that many days

7L in fixed - then months

7L in Dual- weeks

- Just see in how many days 7L will be going to be retrograde.

- Whenever7L in Lagna or Itsaal with LL

14. Combination for early return

- See when ** will move into Panapharas

- See when ** will move into 4H

- Number of days for a planet to enter 4H

- See Moon position from Lagna- Condition is that no intervention

planet. Count from the Lagna to the Rasi occupied by planet.

Multiply by 12. If it is moveable then 36 days to return.

- Take the strongest planet in the horoscope. If that planet is in

fixed sign sign -----

16. Chor Graha- Chor Graha is normally a planet in the 7H.

- Strongest of the 7L, Planet in Kendra or 11H

- Specially, when malefic is in 10H that planet should be taken as

Chor Graha- LL cannot be made Chor-Graha

17. Time of theft

- if the Lagna is in Night Signs (1, 4, 9, 10 & 3) and

- if the 12thSign is in Lagna- then theft could be at dusk

18. About the Thief and the Article stolen

- Look at the strongest planet in the Lagna or aspecting Lagna. See

the nature of the planet aspecting- So something related to these

planets has been stolen.

- Size of Article

- Short Ascension Rasis (1, 2, 11, 12) then small article

- Long ascension Rasis (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)- then big article

- Medium ascension Rasis (3, 10) then medium article.

21. Disease: To find out what is the disease and whether the treatmentis correctly followed. Whether there will be recovery and if so when.

What is the will power of the patient?

- Lagna is the person/patient taking treatment.

- 7H is the disease.

- 10H is the patient- 4H is the line of treatment in a broadway and medicines. Alsoshows recovery.

- Firstly : See 6H & 8H,

- Lagna, LL and Moon- examine them how afflicted- If Chara Lagna- then there will be change in the situation

- If Fixed Lagna- then situation remains the same.

- For Dual Lagna- if a Retrograde planet is in 7H Then whatever

has been diagnosed is not true. Even if the diagnosis may be

correct but the disease is not correct.

- Recovery will be fast if

- Kendra / Kona have benefics

- Moon in Upachaya

- Good Aspects

- If Lagna has benefic aspect or in Kendras

- Specially Moon in good aspect.

- L, LL in Subh Kartari

- If benefic in 3, 6, 9, 11 then fast recovery.- 1, 5, 7, 8 has benefic and Moon is in Upachaya aspected by

benefic

- Strong benefic in Lagna- Recovery will be there.

- LL in Own, Mulatrikona or Exalted rasi; without malefic aspect.

- Strong benefic in 4H- Treatment is correct.

- See 6H- See the maximum planets aspecting Lagna

- Bad Aspects

- Papa planets in Lagna are negative for recovery- The doctor is not

sincere or the line of treatment is wrong.

- If there are Malefics in 4H or 7H Then complications

- 10H has Malefic Then the patient is not following the treatment.

- If Malefics are in 3, 6, 9, 12 then the disease may be congenial

possible or will be at least difficult.

- If Rahu/Ketu, LL and Moon if connected to 6H or 8H Then non-

conventional treatment will be better.

- If retrograde planet is in Lagna then

- If planet is in 4H Then medicine/ treatment will be changed.

- If planet is in 7H- Then it is not the disease suspected.

- If planets in 4H & 7H Then disease may reoccur.

- If a Benefic planet in Kendra initially there will be relief butrecurrence of the disease.

- If a Malefic planet in Kendra- then negatively impact; and veryless chance of recovery.

- If a planet is in 10H Then the patient is with negativeattitude or has less will power.

- Moon is very important as it represent mind/Prana. The strength

of Moon will show the will power of the person.

- Moon should be in good Bhava having good aspects; and should

not be in 6, 8, 12 which is bad.

- However, if it is Sukla Paksha and night Prashna or Krishna

Paksha day Prashna- then even if Moon is in 6, 8, 12 the patient

is likely to recover.

- If Moon is with benefic or Subh Kartari- Recovery will be there.- If Moon is 4H or 8H and Papa Kartari- then the disease will Recur

- If LL in 6H and 6L in L- Then long treatment with suffering.

- If 6L & 8L are in Lagna with Malefic- then can cause death or near

death like situation.

- Connection between 8L with LL ; specially if Itsaal - Death

- However : If 6L/8L Exchange then quick recovery

- 6L/12L or 8L/12L Exchange then quick recovery.

- See where maximum affliction is i.e. in which house and House lord.

- See LL and Moon- is there any affliction? In which house they are in.

- Is there Malefic influence on 6L? How is it placed?

- See the affliction to planets So disease related to that planet

4H- See Char / Fix/ Dual and Prishtodaya/ Shirshodaya/ Ubhayodaya

Benefic or Malefic influence Shows inherent capacity of the native to fight

the disease.

22. War, Quarrels, Litigation, Games, Victory

Normally war starts from quarrels, litigation and leads to Victory- Lagna is the Prashna Karta and;

- 7H is the competitor/opponent

- Malefics in Lagna is - good and gives strength to fight. However,

aspect of malefic on Lagna is bad.

- Benefic and malefic in Lagna is bad for the Prashna Karta

- Exception: If all three benefics (Jup, Mer, Ven) are in Lagna then

fantastic for Prashna-Karta and definitely win.

- If all three Malefics are in Lagna- then it is bad for the Prashna-

Karta- The bhavas from 3 to 8 are symbolic and denote the Prashna

Karta. While bhavas from 9 to 12 denote the Enemy. The side

having more benefics is stronger.

23. Arrival of Enemy

- If Char Lagna & Char Navamsa; and Moon in Sthira Rasi then

the Enemy will soon arrive.

- If D9 Lord and D1 lord are not connected (i.e. they are not same or

not connected in any way)

- If it is Char Lagna with Sun, Saturn (necessary) and Venus or

Mercury (any of these two) are in Lagna

- Jupiter, Venus or Mercury in 4H (any two)

- Char Lagna with Sun or Jupiter in it.

24. When will the Enemy arrive

- Count from Lagna to the Moon if there is no planet in between

then depending on Char Lagna- So many Days Sthira Lagna So many Weeks

Dual Lagna So many Months

25. Non-Arrival of Enemy

If Lagna and the Navamsa are more Sthira rasi and Moon is in

Chara Rasi.

If Lagna is Sthira Rasi and Moon in Dual Rasi and one of Jup,

Ven or Mer is in the 6H- Then the competing party/Enemy will

have sudden loss soon. Therefore they wont arrive.

If Lagna is in Dual Rasi and Moon in Char Rasi Then Enemy

will start but will not reach i.e. may return from in between.

Malefics in 5H & 8H

LL , 8L and 9L are in Sthira Rasis

LL and D9 Lord are connected.

Sun and Moon in 4H

Jupiter or Saturn in Lagna in Sthira Rasi Then Enemy will

start but will face lot of difficulties and therefore will not be able

to reach.

26. Return of Enemy (Opponent comes but returns)

If Lagna has Malefics then the Enemy will retreat and will face

difficulties while retreating

If there is Chatushpad Rasi (1, 2, 5, 9 2nd & 10 1st ) in the

4H then the Enemy will return or retreat either due to defeat or

due to weak position.

27. Combination for Win

If Lagna is in Char Rasi & Moon in Dual Rasi; and both aspected

by Malefics Then war is definite but opponent will be defeated.

If Lagna in Sthira Rasi and; Jupiter/Saturn aspect it Then no

activity by Enemy though he may arrive.

# But if with this combination, Malefics are in 3H, 5H, & 6H

Then there will certainly be confrontation that too with arms.

See the Moon first. Here Moon is the 7L and placed in 2H aspecting the

8H. further it is in Rahu/Ketu axis. So the question relates to divorce.

The LL is the Prashna Karta (husband) and is placed in the 8H

aspected by the 7L- Moon. So there is fault on both the sides. Mia Biwi

kam Nahi.

Here there is also money involved since 2H is connected.

The 3L (Jup) is placed in 11H along with Sun, the 8L So may be someco-born is also helping or involved in this matter.

Note- Whenever the 2H is afflicted it causes marital problems.

Lagna

The Lagna rising is Chara and Pristodhaya- So things will change but

not for good

The LL (Saturn) is aspecting 10H, 2H and 5H So Work, Money/family

and Children are the important facets of this Prashna.

The 7H is further under Paap kartari

Treatment is 4H

Here 4H has a retrograde Mars and 4L- Mer has gone to the 8H.

Further there is an exchange between 7L and 8L

The LL placed in 9H aspects the Lagna and 5H Aspect of Lagna is good

however placement of Mars in 4H shows the treatment may be wrong.

Here Moon mind and Venus- vital fluids are the main areas of the problem.

Note- Alternative medicine is applicable only if the 9H is involved and

has Rahu/Ketu connection.
