FOCUS WITH PRAYER
God is good and all the time God is good, but some of us have a testimony that God
is GREAT and all the time God is great. You can say this when He has brought you
through some trials, some persecutions, some mistakes, some sins, some financial,
some marriage, some health and some other storms in your life. When there is
nothing you can do but pray.
People say all the time I will pray for you. Not to be negative, but I don’t know if
your prayer is getting_____! My point is, we must learn how to be in shape and
stay in shape to pray for ourselves. According to Mr. Webster prayer is, “A humble
and sincere request, as to God”. The bible definition is in Rom. 10:1 where the
apostle Paul said, “My heart’s desire and prayer to God...” Prayer is the heart’s de-
sire expressed. In 1 Jn. 5:14 the apostle John said, “Now this is the confidence that
we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us”. (NKJV)
Jesus taught His disciples to pray (Matt. 6:5-15). In Ps. 34:15 David said, ”The eyes
of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry”.
Prayer must be in faith. Faith comes by hearing the word of God (Rom.10:17). It is
not possible then to ask in faith until you have been taught the word of God. The
sinner must be taught the word of God and believe it and become a Christian be-
fore he can come before the throne of God in prayer. Now we know that God does
not hear sinners, but if anyone is a worshipper of God and does His will, He hears
him (Jn. 9:31).
Listen to this song, “All my trials, all my cares, I can tell them to my Lord and He’ll
my burdens bear. Through the pain and the strain Only Jesus brings me hope
through all my trials. On my knees, bowed in prayer, I take all my trials to God and
gently lay them there. He still hears, dries my tears, Only Jesus gives me strength
through all my trials. Burden low, full of care, sorrow weighed my shoulders down
and filled me with despair but God still knows, mercy shows Only Jesus lifts me up
through all my trials”.

Winterfest 2012
First and foremost, thanks to all of the adults that made Winterfest 2012 possible!
Thank you! In addition I would like to thank the teens for making this weekend an
absolute blast. We played, praised and grew closer to God because you wanted to.
This makes both me and the church incredibly proud and thankful!
The trip was a huge success in every sense of the word and I am excited for our
next big adventure! A huge thank you for all of you who prayed for our group as
we traveled and grew closer to the Father!

Keith’s Kitchen…
Keith’s Kitchen is an op-
portunity to support our
work in Honduras. Each
Wednesday at 6:15PM
Keith prepares a deli-
cious meal. The teens help with the
dessert, drinks and clean-up. All
proceeds go to the accounts of stu-
dents who help. There is no set fee
but your generous checks should be
made to Tampa Youth Missions.
Dessert this week is Matthews,
Price, Stewart.
Special Needs Workshop…
There will be a workshop after
church TODAY to provide tools and
information about working with
Luke and other children with dis-
abilities. We will also be going over
goals for the Special Needs Ministry.
Lunch and childcare will be pro-
vided. If you have questions please
see Tricia Sengul.
Adult Education Breakfast…
On Saturday, March 3 from 9:00-
11:30AM, breakfast will be served
followed by a time of discussion that
will focus on information and ideas
related to our direction moving for-
ward in our Adult Education Minis-
try. This event is open to all who
have taught an adult Bible class in
the past, those currently teaching
and those interested in doing so. A
sign up sheet is posted. Please have
your name on the list by Wednes-
day, February 29 so I have an accu-
rate head count for breakfast prior
to Saturday morning. Thanks and
please let me know if you have any
questions.
