Transcript of Prairieview School - Community Consolidated School...
October 28, 2016 Dear Parents and/or Guardians, On Monday, October 31st, we are going to host our first holiday celebration. Please keep in mind these important reminders for our Halloween celebration:
• All school parties are food free celebrations. Please do not send food in with your son or daughter.
• Students can wear costumes to school on Monday, October 31st. Remember that there are a limited number of adults available to help assist students with their costumes. Costumes worn to school should be comfortable and conducive to learning. When helping your child choose a costume, please remember weapons and other suggestions of overt violence are not allowed. Please keep in mind some families are deeply offended by the representation of witches, ghosts, vampires, devils, werewolves, and goblins.
• A costume parade will be held for children and teachers of grades PM/Full Day K-4 from 12:40 P.M. to 1:00 PM. We hope you can join us to observe the parade! The parade route is scheduled to take place through the main hallways and outside in front of the school, weather permitting. Parents are welcome to observe the parade by standing along the perimeter of the hallways or outside in front of the building. All parents who want to enter our building to attend a holiday celebration or watch the parade will be required to have their IDs scanned at the main office. Parents who choose to watch the parade outside can do so without checking in. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are planning to come into the building. If we have previously scanned your ID, we will pre-print a badge for you.
• Our afternoon K-4 classroom parties will be from approximately 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M.
• In order to prepare for dismissal, we ask that party volunteers leave the bus parking lot by 1:45.
• A parade for the AM Kindergarten class is scheduled from 9:30-9:40. Parents are welcome to meet their children in the classroom and join the parade. All adults will be required to have their ID scanned at the main office. Please let your child’s teacher know if you are planning to attend. If we have previously run your ID, we will pre-print a badge for you. Classroom parties will then be held from 9:40-10:25 for the AM Kindergarten.
If your child is unable to participate in these celebration activities, please contact the Prairieview School office or send a letter in to your child’s teacher. We are happy to plan other activities in which your child can participate. As always, if you have any questions or concerns I can be reached at 543-4230 or via email at [email protected]. For specific questions regarding classroom parties, please contact your child’s teacher.
Sincerely,
Vince Murray

PV PTO Updates The first annual Hot Chocolate Run/Walk is only a few days away! A few important reminders to help stay organized before the big day… We can take donations until the day of the race; however, we would prefer them as early as possible so we can prepare the goody bags ahead of time. If you have out of town family that would like to donate, you can direct them to our website https ://prair iev iewschoolpto .shutterfly .com/hotchocolaterun where we have set up a PayPal link for people to donate via credit card. The minimum donation by credit card is $10. The day of the event please meet us downtown Grayslake, at the corner of Center and Whitney by 10:15am. We have a DJ coming to help us get more energized and ready to run with some great music and games. Additionally, Cassie Phillips, from Habitude Fitness will lead leading everyone in stretching and warm ups before we get started. We will have at least two starts to this event, the first one being for our runners and the second start is for those that are choosing to walk the route. At the finish of the race we will have more entertainment from our DJ, while you enjoy some hot chocolate donated by Somethings Brewing. Since this is a fundraiser we encourage you to get sponsors from friends and families. The student that brings in the most sponsorship money will be treated to a pizza party with Mr. Murray! Second place is a gift card to Fitness Pursuit for 3 swim coaching session for up to 4 people each session (valued at $300!) and the third place student will get a $25 gift card to Dave and Busters! Please visit our website at https://prairieviewschoolpto.shutterfly.com or email the board at [email protected]
Calendar Change! !
We have just confirmed a Family Dinner Night Thursday, November 3rd from 5-9 at Chipotle in Round Lake Beach. Please take the flyer (attached in the newsletter and also on the PTO Facebook) to this Chipotle during the four hours and the PTO will get 50% of all the money brought earned! You can print the flyer, show them on your phone, or just tell them that you are there for the Prairieview PTO fundraiser and we will get credit!

Prairieview PALS Presents
As the winter holidays approach we begin to think about others and how we can help them have a pleasant holiday.
It is not always possible because of the loss of a job, an illness or other reasons, for people to enjoy and afford to buy
presents for their families. At Prairieview School there will be a PAL Tree for Prairieview Families that will not be
able to provide gifts for their families this year. There will be hearts with information for our PV students hanging
on the tree in the front office starting November 15th. A number will identify each heart. Please come in and take some hearts or send a note with your child indicating how many hearts they should bring
home, buy a present, wrap it and return it with the heart on it (no other tags) by December 5th .
*If you have any questions please call Rosa Tellez at 847/ 543-6202.
______________________________________________________________________________________
If your child is a student at Prairieview School and would benefit from receiving gifts this year, please fill
out the form below and return it by November 4th . Please be courteous to donating families and limit the
number of items per child to 2 not to exceed a $20 cost per item.

Con la llegado de los días festivos empezamos a pensar en los regalos que les compraremos a nuestros
familiares y a nuestros amigos.
