some pockets of heavy rain. The Elm Creek
Ag. Department has seen sales in all Ag.
Commodities - chemical, seed, and fertilizer,
and the support is much appreciated.
The General Stores have been very busy in
all locations. Highlights are the sales in Gro-
cery and Hardware at Elm Creek, Hardware
in Starbuck, and Hardware and Oil and
Grease in Marquette. All departments are
doing well as we hit our busiest time of the
year.
As we look at our locations it remains very
important to us to have our key staff availa-
ble to members at the busiest times of the
day. Staffing our stores is challenging at the
best of time and with Covid-19 it has been
even more difficult. We appreciate the pa-
tience our members have shown.
Stay safe and healthy

GARDENING TIP
How to Get Rid of Flea Beetles

den? Try this homemade spray using prod-
ucts available in our stores.
2 cups rubbing
alcohol
5 cups water,
1 tablespoon of
liquid soap.

Many thanks to all of the loyal members of
Prairie Roots Consumers Co-operative LTD.
Your support of our Co-operative has been
amazing.
The 2019 year-end financials for both Co-
operatives have been audited and approved
by the board. Copies will be available at all
three locations. Both Co-operatives had stel-
lar years and we look forward to paying back
90% of our member’s allocation in cash dur-
ing Co-op week in October.
Covid-19 has necessitated some changes to
the way we are doing business but at the end
of the day our staff adapted and worked hard
to serve all of the member’s needs. Thanks
to our great staff.
The Energy Division has been busy utilizing
all 5 trucks and has remained extremely
busy servicing our farming trade. To help
create an effective and efficient fleet we will
be taking all fuel orders with a few standard
questions. Anytime you phone in an order, no
matter who you speak to, you will be asked
the same standard questions
What percentage of fuel is left in your
tank?
Can we get you within the next 3 days
when we are going by?
Can we get you by the end of tomorrow?
Is it an emergency and what are your
needs?
What is your civic address (driveway mark-
er)?
Is there any other fuel product needed
whilst we are there?
Your Co-operation and patience will be great-
ly appreciated
The Ag. Division has been having a great run
with fertilizer and seed this spring and the
volumetric declining weight fertilizer system
in Marquette has worked well, with hundreds
of tonnes going out each day. Seeding over-
all has gone well throughout the area with

Greek Yogurt and Peach Parfait - 2013 : The Test Kitchen
If you don't have time for a leisurely breakfast at home,
don't thaw the peaches; just layer them with the other
ingredients in a jar. By the time you . . . (continued pg. 4)
Test out the mixture on a leaf of the plant, let it sit over-
night, then spray the rest of the plant if you don’t notice
any adverse effects. Spray the mixture on the foliage of
garden plants that are susceptible to these pests.
Dusting your plants with plain talcum powder repels flea
beetles on tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, and other plants.
Insecticides may be used early in the season, but are gen-
erally unnecessary in the control of flea beetles on adult
plants. Be extra diligent if your soil has history of bacterial
diseases. Please contact your local Co-operative or nurse-
ry for further advice.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
This has certainly been an interesting spring so far! Many thanks to our loyal members
for your patience, understanding and support over the past few months. Things are
finally beginning to slowly open up so we will be keeping an eye on how things are
progressing.
Seeding is winding down for this year and the crops are looking good. We could use
some rain in a few areas, but not the 6 inches that some received a few weeks ago!
Sales are up in all of our three location and the staff has been kept busy serving
customers. Our Ag team has moved a lot of fertilizer and seed product from the main
Ag site. There have been a few glitches on the system but, overall, things have been
running pretty smoothly.
Currently there are several active covid-19 cases in Manitoba with no-one in hospital.
We are lucky enough to be one of the few places with low numbers of people affected.
We continue to work with Management and Staff to make it as safe as possible for our
members at each of our locations.
In closing, I would like to express my thanks to the Management Team and Staff for
getting us through another spring. Many thanks also to our valued members for their
support during these challenging times. And now onto the next stage in the growing
season.
Cheers .
