Introduction

Everything you do everyday- taking a shower, watching TV, travelling- has an

impact on the health of our planet.

But are you really aware of that?

What can you do to influence the effect your lifestyle has on the earth- and our

lifes?

Total:

≈ 45, 05 t

≈ 29, 68 t

≈ 10, 67 t

≈ 5, 44 t

≈ 43, 17 t

≈ 10, 57 t

≈ 37, 7 t

≈ 203, 36 t per year!

The amount of our total CO2- consumption is comparable to the

weight of a great northern rorqual!

Page 7: Präsentation going green

Just ¼ of this emissions Just ¼ of this emissions would be agreeable for the would be agreeable for the

health of our planet!health of our planet!

Possibilities of reducing

Daily Life: Use energy saving lamps Put a lid on the pot while cooking Lights off when nobodys in the room Use a pressure cooker Perfect fridge temperature = 7°C;

perfect freezer temperature = -18°C Place fridge not next to oven, cool

room (e.g. cellar =better)

Page 9: Präsentation going green

Dry your clothes without a drier Use modern washing powder/gel

(works at low temperatures) Dont place furniture in front of the

heating Lower heating temperature at night and

when nobodys at home Reduce the heating temperature a little

bit

Page 10: Präsentation going green

Buy rechargeable batteries Use a broom instead of a hose to

clean e.g. the driveway Reduce the heating temperature a

little bit Store your plastic bags & reuse

them Buy predomiantly seasonal

products

Page 11: Präsentation going green

Have short showers instead of bathes buy appliances with a high efficiency, a

low consumption „Standby“- mode = useless energy waste Turn your computer into “energysaving

mode“ or the sleeper mode when you´re not actually working with it

Page 12: Präsentation going green

Travelling: Turn off the motor of your (or your parents) car

when you are waiting/not driving Fly as less as possible Use public means of transport more often

Page 13: Präsentation going green

Most important:

Be determined to do it! You´ve heard a lot of this before, but do you

always follow these „rules“?

Saving energy is a decision.

„Stadtwerke“ NeustrelitzA local energy supply company

„Stadtwerke“ = local energy supply company Try to work enviromentally friendly and future

oriented

→ biomass power station in Neustrelitz

Page 15: Präsentation going green

→ Biomass power station in Neustrelitz

Works with renewable ressources (→ little pieces of wood)

Cogeneration plant Energy need of Neustrelitz: Biomass power station= % of that

Our projects

„Babke“ - house bought by school in Babke

→ develop energy concept Checking our schools energy consumption

→ where do we waste energy, what can we change? Working together with the „Stadtwerke“

→ find out more about alternative energy
