Course Description This course is designed to provide
students with the opportunities to learn the
theories of child development in practice.
It equips students with the ability to
observe, and demonstrate various
concepts and theories of early childhood
care and education in different settings. It
enable them to reflect and repots these
experiences.

Apply the theories, knowledge and skills
gained from the field trip
Acquaint themselves with the realities in
ECCE centers
Develop experience about practices in
ECCE centers

Course Design and Approach
Orientation – students will be given
orientation about their field work
Overview of major issues of ECCE.
Provision of clear guideline of the
practicum.

Fields visits and reports: students conduct
their fieldwork and report in the near future.
The fieldwork is designed in such a way that
students will get practical exposure on major
development issues and stages. Five days
are allotted for the field/practical work
starting from March 25,2019 to March30,2019 for field work three weeks for
submission of the report

When you observe pre schools, you must be
cognizant of the different learning theories,
developmental processes (including social,
language, and cognitive development),
classroom management techniques, learning
and cultural differences, basic teaching and
learning strategies and any other
pedagogical strategies.
At the end of each observation a written report
is required and the format of your report

Student’s performance is assessed on
continuous and developmental basis as
follows:
Field visit, attendance 10%
oral presentation = 30%
Practicum report = 40%
Comprehensive exam 20%
The report is expected not to be below 10
pages.
