Poly-Preneur™ – Community of Alumni Entrepreneurs
“Poly-preneur™” is a new term coined by PolyU to acknowledge the
entrepreneurial spirit of its venturous graduates who start their own
businesses and have contributed to Hong Kong’s economic development.
Through the Poly-preneur™ community, we are creating a networking
resource among our alumni entrepreneurs. It also serves as a great platform
to strengthen the ties between Poly-preneurs™ and their alma mater.
Engaging with Local Entrepreneurial Communities
To further connect with the wider entrepreneurial community, we have been
working closely with local incubators and like-minded partners in supporting
young talents on their innovative start-up ventures through supporting various
events such as Startup Weekend Hong Kong, Global Entrepreneurship Week,
HKTDC Entrepreneur Day, Shenzhen-Hong Kong and Guangdong-Hong Kong
ICT Young Entrepreneurship Programme of Cyberport, etc. In the coming
future, PolyU will continue to play a key role in promoting Do Well Do Good
Entrepreneurship within both the PolyU and start-up community at large.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Training Programmes
A series of training programmes are
designed to equip youngsters with the
innovative mindset and entrepreneurial
skills. The High Potential Entrepreneurial
Leadership (HiPEL) Programme (滬港創業
企業研習班), a 10-day programme
offered by PolyU in partnership with
Fudan University for start-up founders
from both Hong Kong and Shanghai,
aims to strengthen their entrepreneurial
leadership skills and re-align
their business model to
achieve sustainable
development.
Apart from HiPEL Programme, a Shanghai-Hong Kong University Students
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp was also held in August 2014 in which PolyU’s
students joined their Shanghai counterparts in a 6-day programme of
entrepreneurship training, visits to university science parks, incubation
centres and creative industry communities. These programmes helped to
enhance cultural exchange and build a dynamic entrepreneurial network
among the participants.
Out-of-Classroom Learning
We provide out-of-classroom learning opportunities as extramural
activities to augment traditional classroom learning:
• “From Research to Business” Programme
• Entrepreneurs Sharing Seminars

start-up information, news, blogs and resources, is now
available to all youngsters who are aspired to develop their
own businesses. In addition, an online learning tool will soon
be introduced to facilitate self-learning on entrepreneurship.
Each successful application will be granted
$100,000 as seed fund for the execution of the
approved business plan. The Scheme also
features other pre-incubation support like
mentorship programmes, training workshops,
bootcamps and study missions.
