The Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB) welcomes delegates and participants to the Practical Nigerian Content Workshop 2012, being held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State from October 23-25.

This event first held in 2011 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is being jointly organised this year by NCI and NCDMB, a testament to the model of genuine partnerships being promoted by the Board.

Since inception in April 2010, the Board has overseen a structured implementation programme that has retained over $4bn out of the $20bn annual industry spend and stimulated over $2bn investment in new and upgrade of facilities.

As part of its mandate, the Board has ensured the training of over 10,000 training attachment and employment opportunities for young Nigerians, while indigenous ownership and operatorship of rigs and marine vessels is growing to over $2bn over the same period.

Recently, the Board began to promote the Equipment Components Manufacturing initiative, which is geared at stimulating the development of capacities for manufacturing of equipment and systems required by the oil and gas industry. This will create thousands of jobs, link the oil and gas industry with the wider manufacturing sector and spur industrialisation in the country.

The NOGICJQS, a key plank of the Board’s operations is being set up to serve as the industry databank, especially for training and employment, expatriate quota utilisation and succession planning, contract processing among other functions.

The Nigerian Content Development Fund has also been launched to build the supply chain sector and develop critical infrastructure needed by the industry.

This event, which has as its theme, ‘Discover the opportunities-Hear the success stories-See it in action’, will lay bare several issues associated with the implementation of the Nigerian Content Act and imbue participants with knowledge they need to comply with the provisions of the Act.

Welcome and enjoy the event.
