Practical Exam: English Language (2) Corporal punishment brings more

harm than good

Good morning teachers and friends. I am Alice Cahya Putri and I am here to

present a talk about corporal punishment which brings more harm than good. The purpose

of my talk today is to give you information about corporal punishment and make you realize

that corporal punishment is dangerous. 

irst off! corporal punishment is the pain of physical in"ury on someone as

punishment for a wrongdoing. Corporal punishment can happen at home! family! school!

community! and workplace and to anyone especially to children. These are a few e#ample

of corporal punishment at school$ making the student looks at the sun directly! hitting!

pinching! etc. These are also an e#ample of corporal punishment at home! forcing the child

to do something she%he does not want to do.

This corporal punishment may seem not to be so dangerous to some adults. &ut! it

 will have a long'term effect on a person psychologically. It can lead to depression! an#iety!

low self'esteem! lower self'confidence and anger. It also affects child memory and prevents

their talents to flourish.

A study released by the American Pediatrics Association in ())* demonstrates that

children who receive corporal punishment are more likely to develop aggressive behavior

as adults. To +uote it$ ,The more children are spanked, the more anger they report as

adults, the more likely they are to spank their own children, the more likely they are to

approve of hitting a spouse, and the more marital conflict they experience as adults., They

also tend to be irritated! stubborn! or be rude to others. Apart from psychological effects!

physical punishment causes physical pain! in"ury to the body parts and sometimes!

permanent damage to an organ or disability.

Thus! that is why everybody should not use corporal punishment because it brings

more harm than good to everybody especially children. Additionally! parents should be

aware about the effects of corporal punishment to prevent unwanted things. In conclusion!

corporal punishment should not be used especially school because it can affect us in the

future.
