Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (R.T.I), Prof. G.A. Olatunji, commended the management of the Centre, saying that the Centre is under his office and he has special interest in following its activities.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Ag. Director of the University of Ilorin Technical and E n t r e p r e n e u r s h i p C e n t r e , organisers of the event, Dr. I. F. Abdul, noted that the high level of

He called for government support with start-up grants which would further motivate the youths into creating more jobs for the Nigerian society.

Dr Abdul observed that the economic impact of unemployment has been overwhelming on Nigerians and explained that e x p o s i n g t h e s t u d e n t s t o entrepreneurship training would give them more opportunities to exhibit their innate creativity and give them higher self-esteem and a

sense of control over their lives. While speaking on the

activities of the Centre, the. Ag. Director said, “There is also ongoing training for volunteer entrepreneurs in TEC. These trainings are open to students during holidays and free time outside lecture hours. Similarly, children of staff have also benefitted for a token amount. During the interactive session, a student of the University, Emmanuel Kehinde, expressed his excitement for being in 300 level when the TEC introduced training in skill acquisition, noting that he was happy he didn't gain admission earlier.

Other participants urged the University management to avail the Centre with some of the facilities of the University at the Faculties so that students will not have to train outside the campus.

P r o f . A b d u l k a r e e m commended the management of the Centre for effectively using the Gown and Town synergy in training students so that the Centre achieves its objectives.

He disclosed that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved the procurement of some equipment that would make it possible for students to learn new skills, service and training at TEC.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Yunusa Oyeyemi, congratulated the producer on the success of the production while disclosing that he had known Dr. Sulaiman for some time because of her commitment to impacting on the society through writing. He added that he believed that those who wish to make positive impacts on the society should be encouraged.

Earlier in her address, the film producer, Dr. Sulaiman noted that her motivation for embarking on the project with her partners was to contribute a little quota to the education of the society through the popular film industry. She solicited the support of the stakeholders while noting that about ten movie projects are in the pipeline with a view to providing alternative entertainment, which does not compromise morality, to the society. She noted that a percentage of the proceeds from the project had been earmarked for the needy in the society.
