Unmistakable, with their upward raising knuckle booms andindispensable when top-class performances are required in the catenary sector; whether working with load hooks, cable winches, workman baskets or other accessories, the denser the maze of catenary wires, overhead lines and anchoring wires and the greater the number of overhead obstacles, the higher the efficiency and profitability achievable with the PKR cranes. Gone are the days when troublesome overhead com-ponents first had to be dismantled to clear a space for crane work to be carried out!

THE REQUIREMENTS

In the catenary and rail sectors the construction and maintenance specialists have to deal with a wide range of differ-ent tasks. As a result, the requirements on equipment vary immensely. PALFINGER takes these factors into account and therefore offers its railway customers 3 different types of knuckle boom cranes.

THE DESIGN

THE PR CRANES

Unbeatable when space restrictions are so tight that it is impossible to work with any other crane design; e.g. an ad-jacent track limitation on one side, an extremely high sound protection wall exceedingly close on the other side, a live catenary line and the height limitation on - no problem! With a PR crane it is still possible to load and unload the entire loading area, rotate the crane right round and pick up and set down loads in front of buffers and next to the vehicle.The PR cranes with their special kinematics offer a range of opportunities for completely new applications and dramati-cally simplify site logistics.

EXTRAORDINARILY VERSATILE

The PR 220 is a true “multi-talent” or, in plain terms, it is an ideal equipment carrier for numerous accessories in addition to its basiccrane characteristics. Changing equipment is fast and easy using the hydro-mechanical quick change device. The 3-axis manipulator canbe fitted optionally with mulching devices, pruning saws, cutter bars, hedge trimmers or snow clearing devices. A safety device on the slewing mechanism ensures that no serious damage can occur if the crane boom or the accessory equipment collides with an obstacle during travel when working. All the accessories can be folded down in the attached, ready for operation state and transported on the loading surface due to the special kinematics and short length of the crane when folded.
