Day at the Quilting Spa

Spend an uninterrupted day devoted just to quilting. Our Day at the Quilting Spa has become a perennial favorite and it is back this year with another new mystery quilt from Debbie Caffrey.

Envision a day when you set up your work area and begin to sew. Before long someone offers you coffee, or maybe tea. At noon, enjoy your own bag lunch while you take a break and chat with some friends, whether old or new.

Light refreshments are ready in the afternoon, and by the time you’re ready to leave you’ll be well on your way to a finished quilt top.

The best part? Purchase your fabrics for the quilt at Pennington Quilt Works, and your Day at the Quilting Spa is free!! The pattern, snacks, drinks, and any help you need is on us.

When you register for the Spa, you’ll be given a supply list and some preparation instructions. Bring everything on your spa day and we’ll provide the rest of the directions, step by step, at the pace you’d like. Stay as long as you’d like.

Required: Accurate cutting and piecing skills

“quilt as desired”. Now what?

including curved lines, meandering, echoing,

Free Motion Quilting Using Rulers

Machine quilting using rulers on a domestic sewing machine has been getting a lot of attention in the quilting world recently. If you’ve purchased the Bernina 72 foot and ruler kit and want to get started using them, this 2-session class is for you. In the first 3-hour class, you’ll learn how to use the Bernina rulers and practice on muslin. You’ll ‘play’ with the 5 rulers that come in the Bernina starter set. In the second 3-hour class, you’ll work with the rulers on a simple table runner you’ve made prior to class. Working with rulers will open a whole new world of fee-motion quilting to you. It take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be hooked.

Required: ruler kit, Bernina 72 foot, and confidence in free motion quilting

You will then have time to complete your cover before the second class. The second class we put it all together.

Quilts for Kids

On the first Tuesday of each month a group of experienced, charity-minded quilters meet at PQW to sew for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are donated to care facilities to be given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a handmade quilt. Although all the spots for sewing participants are filled, we can certainly use more volunteers to sew quilts at home. Kits will be provided. If interested, please contact Deb for more detailed information concerning your involvement in this worthwhile cause: [email protected].

Meets: 10:15 am–3 pm October 2, November 6

Class registration policy

• Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time.

• 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class.

• No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class.

• No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange.

Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won’t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let’s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you’re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don’t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we’ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.
