    PQSCADA Server

Note: This drawing depicts the flow of data

The PQSCADA server is the heart of the BLACKBOX data management and analysis system.

The main functionality of the PQSCADA server is shown in the figure above and further

described below with corresponding numbered marks:

    1. Download: PQSCADA collects all waveform data that has been continuously

recorded in the compressed PQZIP format.

    2. Process: The data is processed and organized for quick access and storage. A wide

range of electrical parameters are then calculated based on the raw PQZIP data.

The reorganized PQZIP data, and the calculated parameters with statistics

included, are stored and available on the network for later retrieval.

delivered over a number of communication gateways. This feature includes report

exportsin various compatible formats such as COMTRADE, PQDIF, CSV, RTF, HTML,

    PDF, etc.

    4. Visualize: Detailed data can be easily analyzed by any number of clients at any

We recommend that you upgrade all sites and nodes together for each server; however

you may choose to upgrade them individually as well. As shown below Elspec Site & Elspec

    35

    Recalculating the Parameters

This optional step allows you to recalculate any parameter(s) for a stipulated

period. For example apart from IEC 61000-4-30 Class A parameters that has

been included for PQSCADA 4.0 & later versions, the latest version PQSCADA

4.2 includes Class A parameters for Current previously only calculated forVoltage. You may therefore need to recalculate these parameters.

    NOTE NOTE NOTE

We recommend that you perform this procedure only when necessary,

since it can take up a considerable amount of time (approximately two

weeks to calculate one years worth of data). Prior to following this

procedure configure the necessaryParameters in Node Configuration.

In addition refer to the table below as a further guide:

    Downloading Recorded Data

This column provides control over the downloading process of PQZIP files from the

BLACKBOX unit into the PQSCADA Server. The PQSCADA Server is responsible for

collecting continuous data (PQZIP files) from a connected device. When the device

is connected (wired or wireless), the PQSCADA server checks for any new data

availability using an FTP communication Protocol. By default the downloading

process is disabled, in order to commence the download it needs to be Enabled.

    Data Processing

The Data Processing column displays the processing status of PQZIP data. In order

to activate the tools for this column, you will need to Enablethe function by right

clicking anywhere in the Data Processing Column & selecting Enable:

The data processing takes place in 2 stages - namely:

Stage 1 - Data Transferral from the PQZIP to the Database, including:

Decompression & collection of waveform data sources

Data is recompressed into 1min chunks called BINARIES

The Binaries & Device Events are stored into the Database

RMS (V/I) are computed into 1min Summaries

After this stage has been concluded, the minimum resolution period that is

available for all the parameters, is 3 Hours.

Stage 2 - Data Processing itself:

Computation of all other parameter summaries

Computation of Class A aggregated parameters (Version 4)

Summaries are stored every 1 Min / 10 Min ( Min/Max/AVG)After this stage has been concluded, all queries may run for a period longer

    than 3 Hours.

The Binaries calculated during Stage 1 are used for:

    Stage 2 computation

Queries that are initiated from Elspec's Investigator Software Program for

less than 3hours. Any selected parameter is immediately computed from

the stored waveform signal in order to achieve a maximum resolution.

The summaries are used for queries that are run for a longer period than 3

Hours & this consequently shortens the response time for such queries.

    Reset PQZIP Files

The PQSCADA server automatically downloads the PQZIP files recorded by the

BLACKBOX device (Node). Each downloaded PQZIP file is saved under a name by

the PQSCADA server & the server processes the files accordingly. As the files are

processed by the PQSCADA, they are removed from theIncoming Folder. Each file

that has been downloaded to the incoming folder manually or automatically, is

logged within the PQS Server (in order to avoid reprocessing & downloading). The

PQZIP File Viewer displays all downloaded files sorted by Processed &

Unprocessed (files that are still in the incoming folder). Should you wish to re-

download and / or re-process any of the files, you will need to delete the logged

    file from the list.

Right-click on the node in the Data Processing Column selectReset PQZIP

The filter helps you narrow down your search. Select the status for the displayed PQZIP

    files:

All:This will show all PQZIP files contained in the Incoming Folder. This includes

both processed and unprocessed files. It is possible to limit the number of files

    using the Total Results.
