VOLCANOES Volcanoes are caused when molten
rocks flows out to the earth surface through fissures that are caused due to the movement of plates.

Volcanic Eruption Some volcanoes erupt the lava
out with a great explosion and some others, silently.
![Page 6: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
TYPES OF VOLCANOES Based on the chances of eruption the
volcanoes are classified in to three. 1.Active 2.Exinct 3.Dormant
![Page 7: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
1. ACTIVE VOLCANOES Those that frequently erupt. example: Mount Etna in Italy.
![Page 8: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
2.EXTINCT VOLCANOES Active at a time. But will not erupt
again. example: Kilimanjaro in Africa.
![Page 9: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
3.DORMANT VOLCANOES Those that have erupted earlier
and not active in the recent past. But can become active.
example: Vesuvius in Italy.
![Page 10: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
MOUNTAINS An uplifted portion of the earths
surface is called a Hill or Mountains.
![Page 11: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
VARIOUS MOUNTAINS Mountains are divided into four on the
basis of their origin. 1.Fold mountains. 2.Block mountains. 3.Relict mountains. 4.Volcanic mountains.
![Page 12: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
1.Fold Mountains Forms as a result of the faulting on the
rocks. example: Himalayas, Alps
![Page 13: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
2.Block Mountain Forms as a result of the
faulting on the rocks. Example: Black Forest.
![Page 14: ppt practicum](https://reader035.fdocuments.in/reader035/viewer/2022081604/588b22a71a28abed688b51ab/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
3.Relict Mountain Long term wealth oring on the old
mountain. example: Aravally.
