A Small Amount of ‘technical’

As a sales-focused presentation, I’ve avoided technical

concepts as much as possible.

Though I am compelled to approach two: • Creo’s unique RIP technology and the

• advantages of newer/bigger hardware components.

This is necessary for you and your customers to appreciate the Creo Color Server value proposition.

If you or your prospects need further explanation, or answers to questions like “so how does that help my productivity?”, please contact me. Of

course you have excellent analytical support from Canon USA as well.

Creo/Xerox Relationship Has Ended

The Creo relationship with Xerox has ended, leaving a substantial

number of Creo end-users with Xerox printers without a path forward. They would choose to remain with Creo Technology and migrate to Win7

Operating System if it were possible for them. The Creo A7300 running Win7, driving the ImagePRESS, is a solution for them.

The most likely candidates for a conversion to a Canon imagePRESS and Creo A7300 Server would be companies with:

- iGens (w/lower print volumes)

- ColorPress, 7002/8002

- 8080 series

- 700/700i

The New Creo A7300: Cost Competitive

Canon’s A1300 MSRP is certainly less than the Creo A7300’s, but at what sacrifice to your customer as far as features and capabilities?

First, let’s look at hardware between the two servers…

Now for software features and capabilities; are full imposition (and composition, tabbed sheets), custom Spot/Pantone® editing, and Graphic Arts Toolsets included in the base A1300?

Over time, as Adobe® Creative Suite generates more complex files, will it continue performing to

customer’s satisfaction?

The New Creo A7300: Cost Competitive

Regarding Canon’s MSRP for the A2300; it is higher than the Creo’s. The standout difference is that the A2300 includes the Profiling capability. Of course the optional Profile Pack can be added to the Creo as well, to bring it’s

profiling capabilities to the level of the A2300 — but even with the added cost of this option, the Creo A7300’s MSRP is still less, again with superior hardware…

What exactly are these “High demand” features? More details in later slides…

When you compete against a solution in- volving a Creo server,

you should know that the “Canon Creo” (available in your portfolio) brings more “high demand”,

customer-requested features at no added costs.

THE MESSAGE:THE MESSAGE: Whether competing against Whether competing against a bid including a Creo or a competitive a bid including a Creo or a competitive server, know your ‘Canon Creo’ features adserver, know your ‘Canon Creo’ features ad-vantages — in the base configuration alone.vantages — in the base configuration alone.

RIPing to Huge Hard Drives

Creo Servers Always RIP Data to Harddrives. Not to RAM. This enables practically unlimited job run lengths and much needed

stability.

The Creo A7300 has a Terabyte of hard drive space and 6Gb RAM (2Gb on Fusion Board). Therefore, your customer’s chances of hitting memory limits on long/

complex jobs are dramatically reduced.

For example, send a 50,000 record imposed postcard job to an A7300 and A2300. The job consists of 200 unique high res full color images, personalized text, address and barcode.

“For easier file prep and faster production, the Creo wins. The Creo will RIP/Print faster with less preparation. I can send a single file to the Creo, all 50,000 records at once, but I’d be forced to break the VI file out into many batches before sending to the A1300/A2300, etc.)”. (continued…)

Features Highlights

(Legacy and New)

Page 20: PPT Example

•  Parallel Processing makes use of multiple RIP engines operating

collaboratively under a variety of scenarios:

•  One job can be processed by one or more RIP sessions; depending on

file size and complexity, the system can split the processing across several RIP engines and gain significant processing speed; or

•  Several jobs can be RIPped in parallel, improving overall throughput time

•  Static and VDP jobs can run simultaneously

•  RIP session utilization is optimized to maximize overall system

productivity – no operator interaction is required

New Features - Optimized Parallel Processing

Taking Full Advantage of Multi-RIP Architecture

The optional “FAST PACK” brings an additional RIP Node/Engine

Page 21: PPT Example

• Concurrent spooling, processing and printing,

on the same job

•  Enables the job to start processing and printing even before the entire job was imported to the system

•  The system automatically optimizes the number of pages before

job’s processing and printing begins

Pantone Color Libraries and Spot Color Editing Tools

•  Inclusion of new Pantone library and Spot Color Editor provide accurate color values and file integrity

Custom Spot Color Dictionaries

•  Editing of spot colors per paper stock ensures accurate output results

New Features — Color Quality

Color Management Module (CMM)

• Supports all default spot

libraries including HKS, PANTONE, DIC

Page 23: PPT Example

New Features — Profiling Tool

•  The Profiling Tool wizard is based on the KKodak ColorFlow

software engine

•  Allows profile generation from direct input or from external measurements,

i. e.: a color measurement file, like CGATS

Used to create Destination profiles to assure perfect colors with every paper type

Used to create profiles to match other presses (Source Profiles)

The tool can be used with X-Rite i1Pro2, iSis and

IO spectral devices

Upgrades and Conversions

Page 31: PPT Example

The Creo upgrade/conversion kits offer …

… current A7000 and A7500 end-users a

substantial boost in performance and

functionality in addition to the many advantages

of moving to Windows 7 operating system . . . .

Page 32: PPT Example

Upgrades & Conversions

•  Two kits now available::

–  A7500 conversion to A7300 v1.0

•  CSA P/N 4105B005AA

–  A7000 upgrade to A7000 v3.0

•  CSA P/N 4105B006AA

•  Both kits include::

–  2 GB additional RAM

–  Windows 7 Operating System

–  Version software that provides

all standard features and functionality of new core software

–  Both new versions provide full support for the Fast Pack and

Profile Pack option kits.

Page 33: PPT Example

Upgrade vs. Conversion – What’s the difference?

Conversion: Whereas the A7500 utilizes the same server platform as the new A7300, adding memory, software, and a new front cover door to an A7500 results in

an identical configuration to the A7300 in every respect. This procedure is

considered a conversion and new product identification labels are included

in the kit.

•  A7500 + kit = A7300 v1.0

Upgrade:

The A7000 server hardware is not comparable to the A7300 and will not

support the same performance levels. Installing the A7000 kit is considered

an upgrade and no new product identification is included.

• A7000 + kit = A7000 v3.0
