PPME Training in IAC, Netherlands
• Organisation: Sida-Amhara Rural Development Program (SARDP)
• Experience with (P)PME: » Involving in the consolidation of planning
documents of projects and programs.
» Prepare and Consolidate periodic progress reports of projects /programs.
» Collect base line data and impact monitoring using PRA tools and methods.
Key Objectives of SARDP:
• To strengthen decentralised development planning, implementation, management & use of the required services.
• To bring about sustainable increase in agricultural productivity & production, conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
• To diversify the economy and increase income of the households through off-farm income generating activities with credit access.
• To improve rural roads which enhance input supply, marketing of products and social services.
• To improve good governance.
Strategies of SARDP:
• Through the involvement of concerned stakeholders at each stage of the project cycle.
• Creating the required linkage among stakeholders.
• Provision of training for program beneficiaries at each level.
Beneficiaries of SARDP:
• The grass root community who are mainly engaging in subsistence agriculture in the two districts of the Amhara regional state.
• Administration and sector offices at each level.
Other principal stakeholders:The donor( Sweden International Development Co-
operation Agency)
The private sector
The core (P) PME issue/problem to be addressed:
How to evaluate the impact of the program intervention separately (with and without the program).
Lack of proper data base system
How to formulate planning matrix (LFA) for a complex program like SARDP which has different components (Especially how to select appropriate indicators at each level of the intervention logic).
learning objectives for the PPME course:
• To learn on different PPME tools and practice in SARDP.
• To provide PPME training for the program beneficiaries at each level.
