Guide to Respiratory Protection

Guide to Ear Protection

It is important to consider the type and level of contaminants to which workers will be exposed. Once you have properly evaluated the airborne hazards in the workplace, you can begin to choose dust masks based on their FFP rating below.

It is important to control the amount of noise hitting your ears to avoid long term damage.

The SNR measurement (Single Number Rating) shows the number of decibels the hearing protection will reduce the noise level by, when fitted correctly.

When noise reaches 80 decibels hearing protection must be made available to employees.

SNR protection is as follows;

23dB - Ear Muff 27dB - Banded Ear Plugs 34dB - Ear Plugs

PACKAGING STATES PROTECTION LEVELProtection Factor

Typical Application

FFP1 Respirators (APF4)

Low-level fine dust/oil or water based mists (hand sanding, drilling and cutting)

FFP2 Respirators (APF10)

Moderate-level fine dust/oil or water based mists (plastering, cement, sanding and wood dust)

FFP3 Respirators (APF20)

High-level fine dust/oil or water based mists (hazardous pharmaceutical powders, biological agents and fibres)

Guide to Eye Protection

To choose the right eye protection consider the type of protection you need and the fit you require. We offer protection from goggles to sealed spectacles and wraparound glasses. Our glasses also offer lens shade options as highlighted below.
