Partial Private CircuitsResponse to Action Point 9/2 – “BT to consider adopting MSAN format for 1141 codes”

BT have been working on updating fields on Internal matrix, which feeds into all BT systems requiring addressing information. This project has been driven by 21CN requirements to ensure all Address data is correct and consistent.

The main driver for the project was to create a single source of Building Codes throughout the business. These fields include 1141,SAU, Dist/Node ID, Exchange Name.

This now provides a single source of data which should significantly reduce errors.

This information will be fed into all externally facing information (Our Networks), ensuring consistency across the board.

Due to launch internally in the next week, and will then be fed into PPC systems.

Partial Private CircuitsResponse to Action Point 12/2 – “SNEiD Workshop update”

1.      BT to investigate input of SNEiDs at order entry and how this can be applied to bills.Investigation identified the SNEiD can be presented on bills, however, some development work will be necessary and agreement from Industry as to the location on the bill where this information is to be presented. 2.      BT to check if PoH SDH node is transferred from PoH list to COSMOSS or if COSMOSS states the actual PoH SDH node. COSMOSS local exchanges nodes are not the same as the POH SDH nodes. In most cases the PoH and the COSMOSS local exchanges will be the same, 3.      John Lee to provide a copy of excel download produced by Exeter CMC.  Copy of spreadsheet received.  Action completed.4.      BT to check multiple entry identified on Supplementary PSEF file.   The next updates will contain 1 -2 -1 matches only. 5.      BT to investigate what happens when a post code disappears from the LLU post code master list. Investigation shows that the post code is entered into the supplementary PSEF file. 6.      BT to investigate the creation of a 18 months historic PSEF file and its management (is this feasible). Feasibility completed.  Historical PSEF will only be forward looking.  Development is required to create the historical PSEF.

Shifts within the same Point of Handover, Same Serving Exchange were undercharged compared to current pricing and methodology.

Only moves of 2M/bits SDH - SDH circuits to be considered for potential retrospection.

Shifts of any 2M/bits circuit involving PDH equipment will not be subject to potential retrospection owing to scale of engineering resource to carry out shift and the different systems and processes used to provide shift.

Shifts carried out of 2M/bits SDH-SDH circuits under the cease and re-provide method to be investigated individually.

Shifts carried out prior to Phase 2 (22/12/2002) will not be considered for potential retrospection.

CPs requested to submit a claim to Commercial Manager, cc’d to Product Manager, by 07/12/06 (next PPC Forum). Claim should detail each individual shift, circuit ID, date ordered etc, and should meet all criteria above.

Partial Private CircuitsResponse to Action Point 8/6 – “Why was there no holding page when the Wholesale website went down?”

The recent btwholesale.com service outage was caused by a BTWholesale content publisher which created a simple, yet fatal error whilst building the relationships for a content deployment. This caused the memory allocation on the platform to fill at such speed that the platform would lock and reboot. The longevity of the outage was due to extensive investigation on how to stop this cycle to allow root cause analysis.

BT Senior Technical Teams, BEA Consultants and Sun Consultants from around the globe worked 24 hours a day throughout the outage to achieve platform stabilisation via temporary fixes whilst identifying a permanent fix.

To remove the opportunity for this to happen in the future BT OneIT has implemented a code fix to the content wizards used by BTWholesale content providers. This has eliminated any chance of this lock and reboot cycle due to content deployment occurring in the future.

This fix was deployed on the 5th June at 10.00pm and BTWholesale have confirmed that the solution has successfully resolved the problem.

BT OneIT will continue to work with BTWholesale Teams and Customers to improve processes and procedures within the btwholesale.com environment to ensure that a stable state is maintained .

Partial Private CircuitsQoS Performance – Q1

Highlights•The percentage of orders exceeding OCR targets decreased or a 3rd quarter in a row. The performance is 24.38% against 28.77% in the last quarter.•Circuit demand up from 4794 to 4873.•Despite the seasonal heat wave, the number of circuit faults on the network decreased in this quarter. This is against an increasing PPC population.Lowlights•The percentage of orders exceeding FOCR on Highband circuits is still high•Stop the Clock increased from 1005 to 1300 instances this quarter.

What Are Customers Saying About eCo

Pros

• Good order tracking tool

• “Real Time” view of order update data

• Good Inventory management

• Up to date view of inventory data

Cons

• “Double Keying” of order data

• Historically the main cause of resistance to using eCo for ordering is the required “Double Keying” of order data

Page 19: PPC Industry Forum, 7 th September, 2006

What Are Customers Saying About eCo API

Pros

• Easier method to place an order compared to eCo’s thinclient

• No “double keying” of data

• Orders can (optionally) be manually validated in eCo

• Allowing users to correct any missing or incorrect data

Cons

• Address Matching

• Historically the main cause of order failures, can still affect the validation of some orders including Moves

• New Products

• Time taken to be able to order new products via the API channel.

What Are BTWholesale’s Plans for the eCo API

Plan to introduce a single standardised B2B gateway

Page 21: PPC Industry Forum, 7 th September, 2006

business unit (for internal use only) / url (for external use)

Why a Strategic B2B Gateway

A single B2B framework which will eventually support all BT’s migrated platforms. Eg, in the future instead of having separate XML and API interfaces into eCo X and eCo Broadband there will be the one gateway to both

Currently have different standards and languages like old XML versions, Rosettanet, FTP & HTTPS the Strategic B2B gateway will standardise these to XML

The gateway will be simple to set up therefore saving both time and money for customers and will improve the speed that new products will be available to order via a B2B interface

Page 22: PPC Industry Forum, 7 th September, 2006

What is the eCRF

The eCRF (Electronic Customer Requirements Form) is a simple, efficient way for you to place orders on our eCo Order application.

It is an Excel spreadsheet embedded with some visual basic macros that you can download to and run from your computer which produces an xml file of your order which is sent to eCo

Fill it in like a normal CRF (Customer Requirements Form) but instead of emailing it to your CMC contacts, simply click the ‘submit’ button to send us an xml order which is automatically placed directly onto eCo Order, where a CMC operative will process it.

You can save templates with common order details and even pass the eCRF to your colleagues to fill in extra information before placing the order.

Page 23: PPC Industry Forum, 7 th September, 2006

business unit (for internal use only) / url (for external use)

eCRF Benefits

Some benefits of using the eCRF over your normal email/fax process are:•Less day to day “Double Keying” – by saving as template you can reuse order data that remains constant

•Added validation – know for sure that your order has all of the required information before you submit it

•Full audit trail –a full audit trail is available within eCo, including date/time of order creation

•Instantly view your order – it can be viewed on eCo moments after you have submitted it, for tracking

•No more waiting for confirmation – you can see for yourself, without having to wait for a response from the CMC

Product availability

The eCRF is available for provision orders on the following products:

PPC

• PPC Narrowband

• PPC Wideband

• PPC Bearers

RBS BACKHAUL

• 128k – 1024k circuits

• 2Mb circuits

• 2Mb bearers

Page 25: PPC Industry Forum, 7 th September, 2006

Could I use it

1. Can you currently login to eCo from your PC?

2. Are you running Windows 2000 or Windows XP

3. Do you have Excel installed

4. Do you place provision orders for PPC or RBS products?

The requirements for the eCRF are simple.

If the answer to all of the above is yes then the eCRF should work for you
