The XP95 range of analogueaddressable fire detectors isadvanced in design, improved
in performance and has uniquefeatures that benefit theinstaller and end user.
The range includes ionisation and optical smoke detectors, heat detectors and a multisensor detector. A manual callpoint, isolator, loop sounder and other compatible productsare also available.
A unique, patented address mechanism, the XPERT card, ensures that the address data is stored in the base whilekeeping the base free of electronic parts that could bedamaged during installation.
XP95 detectors have been carefully researched anddeveloped by the Apollo design team and the range hasundergone rigorous testing to ensure that it meets notonly European and other standards but also the demandsof todays high technology environments.

XP95 Optical DetectorThe XP95 optical smoke detectoruses an internal pulsing LED and aphoto-diode at an obtuseangle. Inclear air conditions the photo-diodein the XP95 detector receives nolight from the LED and produces acorresponding analogue signal.
The signal increases when smokeenters the chamber and light isscattered onto the photo-diode. Thesignal is processed by the electroniccircuitry and transmitted to thecontrol equipment in exactly thesame way as in the case of theionisation smoke detector.
The optical smoke detector isexternally identical to the ionisationdetector but is distinguished byhaving a clear indicator LED whichemits red light when the detector isin alarm.Part no. 55000-600
XP95 Heat DetectorThe XP95 heat detector isdistinguishable from the smokedetectors by its low air-flowresistance case which allows goodcontact between the sensingthermistor and the surrounding air.
The device monitors temperature byusing a single thermistor networkwhich provides a voltage outputproportional to the external airtemperature. The voltage signal isprocessed and transmitted to thecontrol equipment in exactly the
same way as in the case of theionisation smoke detector.A heat detector for use in ambientsafe temperatures of up to 50Cand which reaches the alarm levelat 90C is also available.Part no. 55000-400 (standard)55000-401 (high temperature)
XP95 Ionisation Smoke DetectorThe air in the dual chambers of theXP95 ionisation smoke detector isirradiated to produce ions that travelto the positive and negativeelectrodes and hence create a currentflow in the chambers. Smokeentering the outer chamber causesa drop in the current flow and an
increase in the voltage measuredat the junction between the outerand inner chambers. The analoguevoltage signal produced in thesensing chamber is converted toa digital signal by the electroniccircuitry and transmitted to thecontrol equipment on interrogation.
The micro-processor in the controlequipment then compares thesignal with the stored data andinitiatesa pre-alarm or fire alarmas smoke density increases. Whenthe equipment determines that afire condition exists, it instructs the
detector to switch on its indicatorLED and the pre-planned alarmroutine is initiated.Part no. 55000-500

InterfacesA comprehensive range of interfaceunits is available.See Apol lo publication PP2025.
XP95 IsolatorIsolators are designed to protect theXP95 loop in the event of a short
circuit fault. They divide a loop offire detectors and ancillary devicesinto groups of 20 as a rule, so that, inthe event of a short circuit, no morethat 20 devices will be inoperable.
The XP95 isolator has particularlylow non-isolating resistance.Part no. 55000-720
SoundersThere are two types of loop-poweredsounder available, one ceiling-mounted for fitting with detectors;one stand-alone.For more information, please refer to
Apollo publications PP2082 for XP95100dB Loop Sounder or PP2031 forXP95 Loop Sounder.

XP95 Beam Detectorhe XP95 beam detector has beenesigned to protect large, openpaces such as museums, churches, arehouses and factories. It consiststhree main parts: the transmitter, hich projects a beam of infra-redht, the receiver, which registers
e light and produces an electricalgnal, and the interface, whichrocesses the signal and generatesarm or fault signals.he XP95 beam detector is loop-owered and requires no separate4V supply, eliminating the need fordditional equipment and savingstallation time.or more information, please referApollo publication, PP2078
art no. 55000-265
XP95 Multisensor Detectorhe XP95 Multisensor detectorombines inputs from optical andeat sensors and processes themsing a sophisticated algorithm. Itdesigned to be sensitive to a
ide range of fires and may besed in place of an ionisationetector in many instances.he detectors construction is similarthat of the optical detector but
ses a different lid and opticalouldings to accommodate theermistor temperature sensor.

Marine (not illustrated)XP95 detectors, manual call pointsand short circuit isolators areapproved by a number of marineclassification societies. These includethe Americal Bureau of Shipping(ABS), Bureau Veritas (BV), DetNorske Veritas (DNV), GermanischerLloyd, Lloyds Register of Shipping,
and the Maritime and CoastguardAgency (MCA).For more information, please see
Apollo publication PP1099.
XP95 Flame DetectorThe XP95 flame detector is designedfor use in areas where flaming firesmay be expected and is sensitive tolow-frequency, flickering infra-redradiation emitted by flames duringcombustion.
The XP95 flame detector is loop-powered and requires no externalsupply. It communicates with thecontrol panel using either the XP95or Discovery protocol.Part no. 55000-280
Intrinsically Safe Detector
XP95 Intrinsically Safe detectorsinclude all the benefits of thestandard XP95 range, but aredeveloped specifically for use inhazardous areas. This rangeincludes ionisation and opticalsmoke detectors, heat detectorsand manual call points, BASEEFAapproved to E EX ia IIC T5.XP95 IS detectors, manual callpoints and short circuit isolators areapproved by a number of marineclassification societies. Theseinclude the Americal Bureau ofShipping (ABS), Bureau Veritas(BV), Det Norske Veritas (DNV),Germanischer Lloyd, LloydsRegister of Shipping, and theMaritime and Coastguard Agency(MCA).For more information, please refer toApollo publications PP1094 and PP1095.
XP95 Manual Call PointWhen activated, the XP95 manualcall point not only interrupts thepolling cycle to indicate to thecontrol panel that it has beenoperated, but also reports itsaddress. Thus an alarm and itscondition can be reported in lessthat 0.2 seconds.
Part nos.55000-905 (surface mounting)55000-906 (flush mounting)
Isolating BaseThe XP95 20D Isolating base sensesand isolates short circuit faults onXP95 loops and spurs. The base isloop powered, polarity sensitiveand accepts the XPERT card to setthe associated device address. For more information, please refer to
the Apollo publication PP2039.
Part no. 45681-321
BasesA wide range of bases is available. For more information, please refer to

XP95 Mounting base andXPERT Card
The base has been designed toenable detectors to be plugged inwithout any need for force and tohave a "one-way-only" fit.By means of a unique, patented"XPERT card" the addressinformation is held in the basewhile keeping the base entirely freeof electronic parts. This codedplastic card is inserted into the baseon commissioning, so that the
address remains the same, no matterhow often the detector is replacedby similar devices for servicingpurposes.Part No. 45681-210
Automatic Addressing with thepatented XPERT CardDepending on the combination ofpips removed, switches in thedetector head are operated toproduce the correct address, whenthe detector head is inserted.
XP95 smoke and heat detectors have been approvedby a number of approvals bodies throughout theworld including LPCB in the UK and VdS inGermany. They comply with the EMC directive89/336/EEC and are CE marked. XP95Adetectorsare UL listed.
