We are dedicated to secure our growth in the future by embedding sustainability into our products, services and processes. We are exploring new design meth-odologies that can assist in reducing the environmental impact of our in-house operations, and our ventilators throughout their life-cycle.

Production Recycling Policy

All off cuts of materials used in our production facility are collected and sorted into the relevant bins for collection and recycling. The materials recycled are Aluminium, pre-galvanised steel, mild steel, stainless steel & wiring. Other components are pre-manufactured such as actuators, nylon bushes, bolts, screws etc and there is no waste.

Raw Material Supply

As ventilation products incorporate more advanced technologies it results in more materials being used. We make sure that when purchasing our materials we source them from places that demonstrate sustainable business practice environmentally. With transparency within our supply chain we can see where our raw materials come from and what impact they have on the environment before it reaches us. We aim to make Powrmatic a leader in energy efficient manufacturing.

Sustainable Manufacturing

At Powrmatic we are always looking to see how we can improve our impact on the environment during the manufacturing process here in the UK. From the bulbs used in our lighting systems to our production machinery we have recorded a significant reduction in our energy consumption. But we don’t like to stop there, we have qualified staff members who are always looking for new energy saving options, saving us money and sustaining the future for Powrmatic and our planet. Powrmatic’s Ventilation Division are also continually looking to sign up with supply chains that have sustainability initiatives and are now members of the government run Constructionline building material supplier scheme.

Ventilator Performance & Parts

Natural Ventilation is inherently environmentally friendly as no energy is required other than that to open and close the ventilators themselves, but also the parts used to build our vents are sustainable too.

• Aluminium Aluminium is one of the most environmentally friendly metals in use today and is infinitely recyclable because of this feature, 70% of all aluminium which has ever been produced is still in use. Today 95% of aluminium used in automotive applications is recycled. For buildings and cans the recycling rate is 95% and 57% respectively.

• SteelAll steel used is recyclable.

• PlasticsThe plastics used in the construction of our ventilators are primarily nylon bushes, polypropylene brush pile & polycarbonate blades to the Opensky louvres. All plastics used are recyclable by the appropriate specialist processors. For a list of potential suppliers visit the British Plastics Federation’s Recycling Group website at website www.bpf.co.uk

• GlassGlass is fully recyclable. Note the spacer bar to IG units are aluminium and the edge seal is a polysulphide or silicone sealant.

• ActuatorsThe actuators used are manufactured from aluminium, steel,copper and plastics and approx 90% of the component materials are recoverable.

• SummaryThe Ventilation Division of Powrmatic Ltd’s products are all manufactured from materials and components that exceed the potential of 90% recyclability.

The Roof Opensky is an attractive, economical low profile louvred ventilator which has been specifically designed for both smoke and heat exhaust and natural ventilation applications.

Base Types & Installation Opensky is suitable for fixing in a wide variety of applications. The ventilator is supplied in two parts to facilitate easy installation on site, the base assembly and louvre box assembly. The base types and applications are as follows:

• Turndown Base - mounting onto weathered roof upstand• Flat Base - mounting directly onto roof sheeting• Glazing Base - integrating into glazing systems

The Roof Opensky can also be supplied with a hinged base for use as an access hatch.

Louvre Blade U-valuesThe roof Opensky can be supplied with both insulated louvre blades and an insulated body to assist in ensuring the building is adequately insulated.

Translucent polycarbonate louvre blades provide excellent daylighting using a durable UV stabilised material. When closed it can provide an average diffused light transmission in excess of 80%, enabling savings on artificial lighting. Pile weather seals are also fitted to the louvre blade edges and sides to minimise heat loss.

InstallationWall Opensky is suitable for installation into any wall or glazed construction. It can be fixed directly into the wall fabric or supplied with either of the following optional extras.

• Glazing Adapters - To seamlessly fit into glazing systems. • Rear Fixing Flange - For mounting external onto the wall. • Front Fixing Flange - For mounting the vent flush with

the wall.

Closure flashings can also be provided allowing for a neat finish to wall openings.

Stirling Casement VentilatorSmoke & Natural Ventilator

The Stirling smoke and heat exhaust ventilator (SHEV) is constructed from extruded AW 6063-T6 aluminium alloys manufactured to EN775 specification. Incorporated within the extrusion profiles is provision for dual weather sealing, control mechanism attachment, hinge location and standard glazing bead and gasket for various size glass and insulating panels.

Naturalsky is a high performance louvred natural ventilator specially designed for architectural feature walls and atria applications. When closed, the louvre blades provide a smooth and flush surface. Naturalsky features completely concealed control mechanisms so the ventilator can blend seamlessly into any vertical structure.

InstallationThe Naturalsky is suitable for installation into any wall or glazed construction. It can be fixed directly into the wall fabric or supplied with either of the following optional extras.

• Glazing Adaptors - To seamlessly fit into glazing systems. • Rear Fixing Flange - For mounting external onto the wall. • Front Fixing Flange - For mounting the vent flush with

the wall.

Closure flashings can also be provided allowing for a neat finish to wall openings.

Sizes AvailableThe louvred Naturalsky is available in increments from 350mm to 2750mm high and 600mm to 2000mm wide.

Louvre Blade U-ValuesThe Naturalsky can be supplied with various blade options to assist in ensuring the building is adequately insulated.

The Ridgevent is a highly efficient ventilator which can provide permanent ventilation in all weather conditions. Designed for low cost natural ventilation of industrial and commercial buildings with minimum resistance to airflow and maximum rain defence.

Static Heatflow VentilatorNatural Ventilator.

The Powrmatic Heatflow offers simple and cost effective ventilation of underground car parks and high heat areas. Heatflow is an efficient, low cost, permanently open natural ventilator ideally suited for areas requiring uncomplicated, weathered natural ventilation of heat or exhaust gases.

Typical applications include underground car parks where Heat-flow can be situated below pavement walkways. Other applications are high heat areas such as power plants and smelters.

The Heatflow has no moving parts making it 100% maintenance free saving money and time. It also has no energy consumption allowing it to be used as a cost effective, sustainable solution for natural ventilation.
