he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust.
This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles:
Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.

Jonah 3v8-9:“But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth.
Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence.
Who knows?God may yet relent and with compassion
turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish”

Romans 3v21 -26:But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made
known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who
believe.
There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Mercy vs Justice
Romans 3v21 -26:God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement,
through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.
He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left
the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just
and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
