Dear All the teachers, students and parents of The American School,

Heartbeat Vietnam Team of VinaCapital Foundation would like to thank you for your benevolent fund saving eight (08) little hearts. Every $1,200USD donation through Heartbeat Vietnam, 1 beloved child will be saved. The remaining amount of the surgery cost shall be co-paid by healthinsurance and other partners.

Following your contribution, firstly, we could eagerly inform the three (03) families upon the chances of in-time operations to their beloved kidsand we do wish them the speedy recoveries after the surgeries. The other five (05) cases should be arranged for hospitalization and we shallinform TAS within the soonest time.

Their three families may have never dreamt of affording such much-needed heart surgeries costs that You have donated. Growing up, these allunfortunate kids together with their parents have faced extremely hardships due to their congenital heart defects. Their health problems haveresulted in severe financial burden to their families, who have always been struggling to afford daily expenses. Trien lives with his parents and older brother. His mother could only stay home to take care of the housework as she has poor health condition,which does not allow her to work. Trien’s father has to support the family’s finance alone by the family’s only valuable property: their basket boat.From early morning till dawn, the poor father would row his basket boat to the sea, hunt for seaweeds and other small sea creatures just to earnvery little money and feed his family of four people. Not only is the job provides low income, but it also depends a lot on the weather, which makesit unstable, too.Trien’s congenital heart defects were found out when he was 5 months old. His parents took him to various hospitals for treatment. In 2018, Trienhad his first surgery at Tam Duc hospital. In 2019, the doctors decided that Trien needed a second surgery. Considering his family’s financialsituation, the surgery fee is totally unaffordable. With the help from TAS, Trien’s heart was fortunately saved. He is now able to enjoy a livelychildhood like any other kids.

Uy’s congenital heart defect was found out when he was 2 months old during his immunization at the local medical center as he was bluishand pale. His parents took him from the local hospital to bigger hospitals in HCMC. Uy’s surgery was directed by the doctors at Tam Duchospital. Having just given birth to Uy, his mother is still weak and could do nothing but stay home. For Uy’s illness is severe, his father wasforced to quit his job to help take care of him and his older sister, who is only 2 years old. Having no stable income, the family’s financebecomes more struggling than ever. His parents already have to borrow from relatives and close friends just for Uy’s medicine, so they couldnot afford such tremendous amount of money for his surgery.Fortunately, Uy is going to be saved thanks to the fund from TAS. Uy’s parents are eager for the new chapter of their son’s health’s condition.

Little Khanh Dang had bravely been through his first cardiac catheterization at one month old and the painful operation at his one year old rightafter. He was diagnosed with congenital heart defect since birth with series of symptoms as shortness of breath, bluish skin and occasional faints.The following years, Dang’s parents has always been under the exhausted financial condition to manage their monthly salary (~344USD) amongstthe tens of living costs, included also their son’s follow-up check expenses. Dang’s older sister, who turns 6, never has the nutritious meal as herother friends at elementary school.The news that TAS would support part of their son’s operation cost finally lifted the family from deep sorrow. Both TAS and Heartbeat Vietnamwould pray a healthier heart to Khang Dang, with no more hurt or complication so that the little boy could grow up strongly, enjoy the normalschooling and physical activities.
