1 PowerPoint is organized just like all Microsoft Office 2010 Applications with the Ribbon contextual menu and the back space area where you work with files. There are some new features that are particular to PowerPoint.

PowerPoint is organized just like all Microsoft Office 2010 Applications with the

Ribbon contextual menu and the back space area where you work with files. There

are some new features that are particular to PowerPoint.

All Microsoft Office 2010 Applications have the Ribbon and the backstage area.

To create a new presentation go to File > New > Blank Presentation then click

create

PowerPoint defaults with a new slide containing two text boxes. One formatted for

large fonts (title) and the other for subtitles. You can change this slide to any

layout you want by right clicking on it in the sidebar and selecting layout. From

layout you can choose the format you want. You can also add slides here or you

can just right click in the sidebar and select add slide.

Right clicking in the sidebar also allows you to create sections to help organize

large presentations (or presentations being created by more than one author) into

more manageable chunks.

You can right click or you can choose options from the ribbon.

Home tab

Basic editing and more – you can add shapes from this menu and once added, they

can be edited. You can change colors, add effects, edit points to create an entirely

new shape.

Insert Tab

The fun begins!

Insert an image. Click the image to select it. Look at the ribbon. Now there is a tab

called Picture Tools. Click Picture Tools. Now there is an additional menu – just

for changing the image.

The best way to learn about all image enhancement tools in PowerPoint is to play

with it. You can correct sharpness or blurriness, re-color, add artistic effects that

make it look more like a sketch. Use pictures to fill a shape.

Easily add a photo album to PowerPoint. Under the insert tab, click photo album.

In the dialog box click “from file”. Select the pictures you wish to add.

Click Insert

In the next dialog box you can do some preliminary editing of your pictures.

Your images are listed and you can choose to edit one at a time or apply an effect

to the entire group. You can also add a theme from here.

PowerPoint 2010 has included preset Smart Art that you can animate and

customize.

Scroll down to see all or click on a grouping to see the presets that fit that category.

Choose a preset and the basic preset will appear on your slide (or document)

Now you can add text.

Format all elements of your SmartArt

Animation

Click the animation tab on the ribbon

Animations are how you create movement of the pieces on your slide

Click on animation pane to open a window showing each object

Click effect options

You can now change the direction of animation

You can also select animate as one whole object or one part at a time

Animations default to starting “on click” or when you click them. If you are going

to be actively presenting and speaking you will want to leave this alone. If you

wish to record the presentation and save it as a movie or create a self-running

presentation you can change the drop down to after previous.

Transitions

Click the Transitions tab – this is where you will choose how your entire slide will

appear and disappear.

PowerPoint 2010 has added a few new bells and whistles

You can choose transitions and click preview to see how they will look.

Lets make a movie!

Slide Show

Click the slide show tab and view your presentation. If you are satisfied click

record and run through your show.

Select Start recording from the beginning

Check items you want included

Ready?

Go back to the file tab

Select Save As

Scroll down to Windows Media Video

Click save

This will take a few minutes

You will now have a movie of your PowerPoint Presentation

There are other options for saving and sharing presentations.

You can select Save and Send > Send as PDF, Attachment, and more.
