    Commands

Commands are organized on categories in the Graitec Advance PowerPack ribbon, with specific icons.

    There are three categories:

Productivity with specific commands for faster modelling; Objects with commands used to create new elements; Connections the commands from this category are used to create connections between elements or

to add additional required objects to a selected element.

Useful commands for faster modelling - Productivity

    Beam, repeated

This feature has the ability to draw beams without recalling the command.

Choose a start point and an end point for the first beam. The user is still able to choose a start point and an end point for the second beam, and so on At the last end point, after pressing ENTER, the beam dialog pops up and the user can change all the

drawn beams. The beams can also be changed separately, after closing and reopening the beam dialog for each

    beam.

    Beam, continuous

This feature has the ability to draw beams continuously, without recalling the command and choosing the "node" snap point for starting a new beam.

Choose a start point and an end point. The end point of the first beam is automatically considered the first point for the second beam, and so

on. The user chooses only the end point for the next beams. At the last end point, after pressing ENTER, the beam dialog pops up and the user can change all the

drawn beams. The beams can also be changed separately, after closing and reopening the beam dialog for each

    beam.

    Folded plate, create fold

This feature has the ability to create a plate with a fold on an existing folded plate

By applying the command and picking an edge of a folded plate, another plate and fold are created along that edge, reducing modelling time.

The user can adjust the fold after creating it.

    Model objects

    Castellated beam

The castellated beam is a compound beam. The dimensions of the resulting profile height and the opening dimensions are collected from the producers catalogues and added to the database. Castellated beam with hexagonal pattern

    Castellated beam with octagonal pattern

    Castellated beam with sinusoidal pattern

    Cellular beam

The cellular beam is also a compound beam. The dimensions of the resulting profile height and the opening dimensions are collected from the producers catalogues and added to the database.

    Cellular beam with circular pattern

    Beam with openings

The beam with openings is formed by creating openings along an I beam or a welded I beam. The beam with openings is a compound beam created by indicating the start and the end points.

    Beam with openings

    Staggered connection

This feature has the ability to create staggered bolts/holes/anchors/shear studs. The main function of this feature is that the user can switch between bolts/holes/anchors/shear studs from the dialog, without having to recreate a pattern with different connection. The connection can be a straight pattern, but also has 4 types of stagger which allow the user to manipulate and create a variety of pattern connection combinations.

    Joints

Compound splice This connection works on welded beams, I + 2T sections or I + T section and was designed to connect 2 beams/columns. The plates which connect the sections can be bolted or welded and can be adjusted and placed on the section in many situations.

Compound stiffener This connection works on welded beams, I + 2T section or I + T section and it was designed to reinforce the sections by adding stiffeners. The stiffeners can be adjusted according to the users needs.

    Plate / Grating stiffeners

The stiffeners are arranged parallel to the selected edge. Also, there is an option to arrange additional stiffeners perpendicular to the main direction.

    There are additional useful options:

The stiffeners placed on a plate or on a grating can be positioned above or below. The stiffeners created from sections can be rotated or mirrored. The external corners of the stiffeners can be adjusted with straight or round chamfers. The stiffeners length results from the selected edge length and if offsets are created, these are taken

into account in the stiffeners length. The perpendicular stiffeners can be divided by the parallel ones or can be contoured, situation when

    the parallel ones are cut.

Intersection connection This connection is used to fill the distance between the two selected elements with packer plates or a section.

There are more options available to control the joint element:

The number of plates can be automatically calculated if the thickness is specified. The plates can be grouped if the number of plates with the same thickness is specified . The plates can be divided or not in one direction or the other. The two selected elements and the plates pack or section can be connected with bolts or welds. If the intersecting main and secondary elements are sections, stiffeners can be added. Also, if a section is used to connect the two elements, this too can be stiffened. The bolt holes can be round or slotted.

    Lifting lugs / holes

The lifting lug is a plate with a central hole. The lug or holes can be automatically placed on linear elements (profiles) according with their centre of gravity, or they can be placed on planar elements (plates) by indicating a lifting hook point and the lugs/holes position.

    There are additional useful options:

The lug can be cut straight or round at external corners. The hole of the lug can be stiffened with additional pads placed around the hole. The lug can be directly welded to the element or an additional perpendicular plate can be created in

order to connect it with bolts to the element. If the weld type is in depth, then bevel dimensions can be defined. The lug placed on a profile can be arranged in different positions (top, bottom, left or right) on the

    elements faces.
