Measure from the center of the hole in the backstop to the floor. This measurement will be used to determine the overall length of the swing-arm tubes. The full swing-

arm consists of the upper, connector, and lower swing-arm tubes.

Once the length has been determined: Secure the Upper Swing-Arm Tube with the Swing-Arm Connection Tube using 2 Small Carriage Bolts and 2 Small Nuts, Secure the Lower Swing-Arm Tube with the Swing-Arm Connection Tube using 2 Small Carriage Bolts and 2 Small Nuts.

Repeat for the other Swing-Arm, ensuring the same length and hole usage.

5 To assemble the Swing-Arm: slide the connector tube into the Upper Swing-arm tube and slidethe Lower Swing-arm tube onto the connector tube. Using your measurement from theprevious page: lay your tape measure from the hole on the Upper Swing-arm tube along the sideof the tubes and adjust until you are 1” to 3” less than your measurement (this will ensure whenthe arm swings down it will have a gap from the floor).

13

For maximum extension, the connector tube should have 6 holes inside each of the upper and lowerswing-arm tubes – this should never be exceeded.

8To determine the location of the rubberized hooks that will be holding the bike frame, pick 2 locations on the frame that best support your particular bike. These 2 points will be used to hold the bikes and may be straight, or slanted , as shown in the image below. (Continued on next page).

9 Continued The easiest method is to determine what bicycle will go on the bottom. From the floor measure to the locations you want your hooks, carry that measurement to the bike lift. You will want to know the bike lift width, as it will help locate your hook placement. When installing the support tubes, add an additional 1-3 inches to keep your tires from resting on the ground. The upper bike is the same method, you will need measure from the floor to the highest point on the lower bike. This measurement will be added to the floor to hook measurement.

There are 4 standard type of roof structures:

1. Living Space above the garage area. 2. Flat roofs.

3. “Hip” / Truss roofs. 4. Traditional “Gable” roofs.

It is important to identify the type of roof structure you have, to start the process of installation.

Once you identify the type of roof structure you have, you can understand the type of

construction your have in your ceiling.

We will attempt to demonstrate the type of ceiling or truss systems but these types may vary. If

you have any questions on the type of roof structure you have, we recommend contacting your

builder, viewing your ceiling trusses via your attic access or contacting a qualified representative

to help you.

Appendix III –Proper Mounting

• It is recommended to use a stud finder and physically inspect your crawl space to

locate your truss direction. You can also make note of any electrical, plumbing or

gas lines that may be around your truss system.

• Always install the lag screws directly into the center of a truss. With appropriate

installation, you should never encounter utility lines.

• We recommend probing to find the edges of your truss. This is the most reliable

method of finding the center of your truss and ensures proper installation of the

lag screws.

• Because our lag screws are designed to be contained inside of solid wood

trusses, they are 3” in length. If you find that you have pre-fabricated wood

trusses such as TGI’s, we recommend that you slowly tighten your lag screws

into the mounting track. Some pre-fabricated trusses are thin, and your lag

screws may penetrate the back side.

• If you cannot view your trusses due to a living space being above your garage,

you can purchase 2 ½” steel lag screws to replace the 3” lag screws that are

provided in your hardware kit.

• In every situation, it is best to consult with your builder or a professional to help

with your project.
