What is the role played by the forest in the planet?
They protect the soil from

elements.. They capture
and store water.
Produce chemicals like
resins, alkaloids, oils,
latex, pharmaceuticals
, etc.Are the lungs of
the planet.
Role played by the forest
Are there any forest preservation programs sponsored by the ONU?Which one? Do they work?
Program 21 it was adopted at the "Earth Summit" in the year 1992. The program is an comprehensive global action in which there are:
- The fight against deforestation; desertification and loss of agricultural land.
- Avoid contamination of the atmosphere, air and water.
- Good waste management.
- In this program governments indicate that the world could work on activities that protect and renew natural resources, for example educate people about this topic, make sustainable agriculture programs, ecotourism, creation and strengthening of protected areas. This program works but needs the help of all the people who live on the planet.
How much wood is it produced and Consumed in Ecuador? Are there any deforestation problems?

Wood production is about 421,000 tons per year and are mainly exported to countries like USA, China, Colombia, Peru, Japan, Germany, Denmark and Mexico.

Ecuador has one of the highest rates of deforestation in Latin America with an annual loss of between about 60,000 to 200,000 hectares of native forests, this means 1.7% to 2.4%.
CAUSES

The causes are the expansion of crops through agriculture and livestock, the presence of oil and mining companies, construction of roads.
What are the problems related to deforestation?Destruction of shrubs and other
plants and vegetables, since the disappearance of the tallest trees, a slow deterioration of those lower plants occurs and eventually the soil is exposed to the erosive effects of wind and rain. Floods and landslides, as the soil can n not absorb water, because it is eroded. Appearance of pests.
The extinction of many species of f flora and fauna and their natural a habitat is destroyed. Break the climate balance, the g gases would be released into the t atmosphere. Formation of great deserts, b because without trees rains d disappear and the land will erode.
