IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS/MODIFICATIONS DONE IN FIREDETECTION & ALARM SYSTEM DURING FY 2012/13:
Impro!" m!#$o"o%o' (or )%!*+,+: Pr!,o-.%': All the detectors were previously used to be cleaned byblowing air in high speed on regular basis.
Pr!.!+#%': Each & every detector is taken out from its base, thendismantled completely & cleaned thoroughly.
A"*+#*!.: The occurrence of false alarm due to high dust concentrationin detectors has vanished completely. It increased the reliability of Fire etection& Alarm !ystem.

Pr!,o-.%': The "#I of FA$% which is placed in '"$ (I) was not working dueto hardware problem. Its motherboard was changed but the same problemreoccurred after few days.
Pr!.!+#%' : A faulty '$* of A!+ *nit was checked & its !#$! was foundfaulty. The !#$! was changed & now its working satisfactorily.
A"*+#*!. : Instead of using a new '$* for the system, available
resources were used to solve the problem. It helped in the cost cutting and savedvaluable resources.

1 All the - eluge /alves were checked on regular basis but there
was no proper schedule of checking.2 !ome of the /s were not in working condition due to faulty modulesas well as absence of pressure switches & solenoids.

1 $reventive #aintenance ($#) schedule of all /s have been uploadedin !A$ in accordance with T#.
2 All the /s are taken inline by rectifying the above problems.

1 #ore e0ective checking of each / is now possible as their $# is donesimultaneously by both mech. & '&I dept.
2 Also the chances of slippage of any / is omitted as the $# schedule
is loaded in !A$ and maintained accordingly by both dept.3 It has also increased the reliability & availability of /s.

1 +ots of false operation of "ydrant & !pray pumps were noticed.
2 All the hydrant pumps were getting started simultaneously whenever therewas any pressure drop in the hydrant header.
3 1ockey $ump was taking fre2uent on3o0 which was damaging its mechanicalparts.
The auto on3o0 of all the Fire $umps were solely based on pressure switches.Also there was no system for continuous monitoring of "ydrant headerpressure.
Pr!.!+#%':
1 $+' logics for the auto on3o0 of pumps is thoroughly checked & recti4ed.
2 A delay of -5sec is given before the auto start command of each pump toavoid the simultaneous start all pumps.
3 The fre2uent 'ut%in3'ut%o0 problem of 1ockey $ump was solved by increasingits cut%o0 pressure set point limit from 6.5kg3cm to 6.7kg3cm.
A $ressure T8. Is installed on hydrant header for continuous pressuremonitoring. A "ooter is also provided for annunciation if header pressurebecomes greater than --kg3cm.

1 Energy conservation is achieved as the "$s can be manually stopped onachieving the re2uired pressure.
2 As the $ressure T8. Is more robust & reliable, the overall reliability of the Fire9ater $ump system is increased many times.

1 There was no indication in '': for the ; & =;$ areasof the plant. =ut they were blind for !tore & *r?a =havan.

1 =ooster $ump for FI:E is inline & its ;
