the Healthy Shasta model Collaborative partnership formed to
address childhood obesity YMCA funding proposal submitted
What is Healthy Shasta?
1. Creating a community that supports healthy eating and physical activity
2. A “movement” of organizations - not a “program”
3. Founded on collaboration not duplication or competition
4. Higher Spectrum of Prevention Strategies
Recruited Original Partnersto form a Healthy Shasta Steering Committee
What does it mean to be a Healthy Shasta Partner?
Contribute financially, allocate resources or a significant in-kind contribution
Commit to “Walking the Talk”- organizational changes and policies
Attend Healthy Shasta Partner Leadership Team meetings and support outcomes through committee and collaborative work
Act as Healthy Shasta ambassadors in the community- keep health in mind when making decisions in everyday work and leadership roles
