• Flying in an open sky like a bird is dream of man till date. Even though humans fly

in air through modes such as aeroplane, helicopter, hot air balloon, parachutes

and space shuttles, flying like a bird isn’t matched yet.

• Therefore, a flying costume has been designed (having a global patent pending) to

fulfil dream of a man to fly like a bird in air.

• Flying costume allows user to fly in sky without any barrier.

• As part of first phase, use of this costume is limited to adventure, amusement and

advertisement only.

• Uses Helium as sources of fuel to fly in `the air, as these gases are lighter than air

and can neutralize the effect of gravitational force.

INTRODUCTION:

• Flying costume is based on straightforward principles of Newton’s laws and Laws

of gravitation.

• The flying costume is based on principle of zero gravity force, which allows the

person wearing the flying costume to fly in sky in any direction without the

gravitational force of earth affecting on him.

• Does not involve any major complex machines or set up, but rather work on simple

flying costume and some other measuring units.

PRINCIPLE INVOLVED:

• Wear the flying costume or jacket attached with a PVC balloon, a fan and otheraccessories

• Stand on a weighing scale

• Fill PVC balloon with helium gas till weight of the person wearing costumebecomes zero. At this point, it is called as zero gravity position.

• In zero gravity position, the person can swim in air like an astronaut in space

• The fan will help in boosting the speed of the costume

WORKING:

• Costume to be light weight, simple and attached with very few accessories

– Flying costume attached with PVC balloon for filling helium gas

– A fan for boosting speed of the costume

– A GPS system

– A torch

– An altitude gauge

A balloon of 10 feet Dias filled with helium is able to lift 27 kg weight approximately (weight of balloon 7kg + 20 kg extra etc.)

According to this measurement 3 balloons of helium can lift weight of 81kg approximately. (weight of jacket 16-21kg + weight of user 60-65kg).

Safety Net

• A fully covered net alike which can be in shape of a square or circle, with a rubber base and dimensions L*B*H = 40*40*40 m or radius of 20 m (approx) will be used as safety net.

CURRENT STATUS OF DEVELOPMENT:

• A working prototype of the device has already been made and can be shared based on initial

interest.

• Further development needs to be undertake for finalization and finishing of the prototype,

complete technical designing of which has already been done.

• Global Patent is pending vide application No. PCT/IN2011/000489 with the first independent

claim stating:

• 1. A flying costume for covering complete body except face of the user comprising:

– a body shaped costume to fit over the body of a user;

– at least one inflatable sack positioned in the said costume body and positioned such that inflating the inflatable sack causes a feature to move from a retracted position to protrude from the costume body;

– a means for inflating the inflatable sack;

– a means for controlling the extent of inflation of the inflatable sack;

– a means for steering the costume during the flight; and

– a means for retracting the inflated sack.

• Size of the flying costume can be varied based on user weight

As the first phase is only for advertisement and amusement purpose there is no need

of accessories like torch, GPS system and altitude meters
