Such higher-level people have not realized that they are not seen, much less understood:"It is very puzzling to people at higher levels ofawareness why people behave towards them as they do;such higher-level people have not realized that they are not seen, much less understood. People at lowlevels ofawareness do not observe, but substitute for observation preconceptions, evaluation andsuppositions and even physical pain by which to attain their certainties."Scientology Issue 16-GJune 1953 Tech Vol. II Pg. 112

6. And then there's attention and duplication:"And then there's attention and duplication. So to communicate at all, an individual would have to havea desire to have himself duplicated."The Nature And Effect OfCommunication In Games 540709 New PHL Vol. 1 Pg. 39

7. Part of the rock-bottom intentions of communication are: to be received and to be duplicated to be received and to be duplicated:"Part of the rock-bottom intentions of communication are: to be received and to be duplicated - to bereceived and to be duplicated. Of these two, neither one of them is really senior to the other one. Butthose are such fundamental parts of communication that they exceed, as far as the parts ofcommunication is concerned, every other consideration. If a communication is going to exist, then, to bereceived and to receive, to be duplicated and to duplicate, occupy the very, very major role inconsideration."The Nature And Effict OfCommunication In Games 540709 New Phoenix Lectures, Vol.l Pg.40

Or is there something one can do right now? There is: Decide to flourish and prosper! And then Flourish and Prosper! There is no more deadly way toget even with a suppressive or an antagonistic person or a downgrading society than by flourishing andprospering."LRH ED 307 Int. Ron's Journal 31 1.12. 79

How we can help another being:

Whom would you like to help and work with?Best is a person of similar auditing I training level and similar profession I reality

Which targets would you like to achieve in the next 1,2,3,4 weeks?Write them down as end products.

Now decide you have reached the 4 week targets and be certain about it.

Write these targets down for the other person and exchange them with each other.

Now decide that the other person has reached his 4 week targets andbe certain that that is the case.

Schedule the time for talking to each other:Best is daily but at least every two days

Exchange phone and fax # and email addresses.

Acknowledge the other person.

Why do we make plans?

How important is being up- tone?

11. "And the more serious you take the game, the less chance there is ofwinning. The bottom ofthetone scale is "Lose," and the top of it's "Win". This tells you it takes lots of space and lots of unseriousness to win.""The more serious they get - 1.5 is real serious - why, ofcourse, the more serious they get, the more theyhave to do things by flow, and the more they have to agree and the more they have to follow the rules, and the more broken the piece becomes. It

"You want to know what's wrong with your preclear? Well, your preclear is too serious. You want toknow what seriousness is? Seriousness is solidity. You ever hear ofa 'solid citizen'? You want to getsomething done, don't get any ofthese serious boys. Shoot them on sight or process them.""There's nothing succeeds like insouciance. Plain flippancy will actually get more done in less time thananything else you can name. That's a funny thing, isn't it? It's not serious; the guy's flippant."Flows, Characteristics of PDC# 26 Vo/.3 Pg. 95, 96,97

Which references can you use to help when theother person cannot handle something?

12. a. That which a person can confront, he can handle:"That which a person can confront, he can handle. The first step ofhandling anything is gaining anability to face it."Scientology: A New Slant On Life Chapter 13 "Confronting" Pg. 91

12. c••..to confront an Bness with total responsibility:ItAnd when you can get somebody to confront an isness with total responsibility, philosophy walks outthe window - so does religion, I'm afraid, so does war and taxes. A person's domestic difficulties, theitch he contracted, almost anything you can think of, starts walking away the moment that he startsentering in upon this one proposition. That which is, is. Now, it is all very well to say, 'Well, that whichis, is.' That's the statement with total irresponsibility."Theory OfProcesses: 590428 Skills ola Theta Being Vol. 2 Pg. 91

How can you acknowledge the comm? By using the TRs and

13. A Tone 40 acknowledgment totally ends tbe cycle of action:"A Tone 40 acknowledgment totally ends the cycle ofaction and totally ends the creation oftheintention. In other words, it ends the cycle completely and also acknowledges everything both auditorand pc have done, whether it was a Tone 40 action, execution ofcommand or bank reaction. A true Tone40 acknowledgment ends all preceding action."HCOB 13. Nov.1981"Whal Tone 40 Is" Vol. XII Pg.360

Problems start to appear:

14. a. "The basic operation of the reactive mind is to solve problems"Scientology Issue 16-G June 1953 2"a ACC Vol. 3 Pg.221

14. b. "And then every time be solves it, he keeps the problem."Man The Animal, And Man The God: Q&A Period 28 Jan. 1958 19'h ACC Vol. 1 Pg. 156

14. c. Tbe effort to solve it is the entrapping mechanism:"But something around there thinks there's a secret involved with it and is trying to solve that secret. The effort to solve it is the entrapping mechanism. To look into the workings ofa machine in order toerase or vanquish the machine is about the silliest thing you can do. The answer to the machine is themachine. Q and A. An ultimate solution is the perfect duplication of the problem."Essence o/auditing 7. Dec. 1954 gth ACe The Solution To Entrapment Vol. 1 Pg. 30

14. d••••simply increase of ability to confront the problem:"The handling of 8 problem seems to be simply the increase ofability to confront the problem, and whenthe problem can be totally confronted, it no longer exists. This is strange and miraculous."Scientology: A New Slant On Life Chapter 13 ('Confronting" Pg. 94

14. e. Now, a problem that is solved is a problem that is not-ised:"And you mustn't look at either postulate and you don't look at either confusion. So nothing gets asised. SO.8 problem tends to persist and the common denominator ofa problem is persistence. Of allthings that endure, a problem is the enduringest. Problems endure longer. So people become impatientwith problems and they solve them. Now, a problem that is solved is a problem that is not-ised, not aproblem which is as-ised, in the ordinary solution."BC #27, Page 17, "Routine lA-Problems((

Page 7: Postulate Seminar by Gerhard Schwandt, Handouts (2006)

How can you help the other person to have an increased certainty?

15. a. Thus we have certainty as a gradient scale:"As one advances he discovers that what he fust perceived as a certainty can be considerably improved. Thus we have certainty as a gradient scale. It is not an absolute, but it is defined as the certainty that oneperceives or the certainty that one creates what one perceives or the certainty that there is perception."Scientology Issue 16-0 This is Scientology - The Science ofCertainty Tech Vol. II Pg. 111

15. b•••. there's no substitute for•.••certainty:"Now, you see, there's no substitute for this thing called certainty. A person knows he has it. All ofa'sudden he becomes certain one day of something or other."Opening Lec/ure: Emotional Tone Scale 17 Nov. 1953 2'ul ACC Vol. 1 Pg.5

Which reference can you use when the other person made a decision?

16. "What you decide is law to you. What you evaluate is evaluation to you.""A postulate is a decision you make to yourselfor to others. You make one, then aftetwards conditionschange and you make a second one. This makes the ftrst one wrong. You make a postulate as cause andthen, by having lived through some instants of time, become an effect ofyour own cause."Handbook For Preelears - The Thirteenth Act Pg. 210-211

More about postulates:

17. a "Postulate: (1) (verb) put forward as a reality. (2) (noun) conclusion, decision or resolutionmade by the individual himself; thing put there as a reality.'~

Glossary g'h ACC Vol. 1

17. b. The total trick:ItAnd to the degree that there's no doubt mixed up in it, and to the degree that you realize that it is easy, that is the total trick. Ifyou could cut down the amount of effort you were explnding sufficiently, youcould mock up a planet. It's the smallness ofthe effort implied and the largeness of the postulate, not thelargeness ofthe effort and the smallness of the postulate, or the loudness ofthe postulate, or making thepostulate with your neck cords all swollen up."Esto - Lectures Nr. 6 Part IIfrom L.R.H

More about mock-ups:

18. a. A mock-uD's out in front:"A mock-up's out in front. A mock-up has distance from the preclear. A mock-up has substance. Andwhen you get good on them they have body."Rising Scale Processing PDC# 38 Vo/.5 Pg. 19

Page 8: Postulate Seminar by Gerhard Schwandt, Handouts (2006)

18. b. "When you do something in the MEST universe, do a mock-up. Do a mock-up. Do the mockup a lot better. Ifyou insist on handling things with MEST universe laws and so forth, mock them upand handle them with some other laws and alternate that. Here you are walking around twenty-four hoursa day agreeing with the MEST universe. Well, get in a few mock-ups - much more important to youpersonally. It's more important really that -low on the Tone Scale you maybe don't see this - but it'sreally more important to you to do a good mock-up than to do a good job down at the factory orsomething. It's more important. It'll work out in the long run to be."Rising Scale Processing PDC# 38 Vol. 5 Pg. 30

18. c. The only way he can get anything done is to consider that it is done:"Now, let's take Axiom 44 and see how aU this adds up here in processing: Theta, the static, has nolocation in matter, energy, space or time but is capable ofconsideration••• The only way that he canget anything done is to consider that it is done or consider that that is the condition which exists.

Phoenix Lectures, Chapter 4 "Axioms' Pg. 121 & 122

18. d....to do this in his own universe...MEST is a seconda." manifestation:"You let him do what he was trying to do which was to pick up the tree, the car, the brick wall, and heknows he can do this in his own universe. And that's all he's interested in rehabilitating, is his ability todo it in his own universe. And the only reason he's hanging on to MEST is because he has the disabilityof not being able to do it for himself: MEST is a secondary manifestation."The Gradient Scale OfHandling Space, Energy And Objects 521202 R&D Series 13 Pg. 123

Why you have to continue to put it there:

19. "Whv does one have to create again? He has to create again because of the postulate time. Andthat is the fact that we have a different universe every given instant. So we have to create something inthis new universe at any given instant in order to have anything there in this new universe."Creation 7 Nov. 1956 The Power ofSimplicity 15th ACC Vol. 2 Pg.57

What can you do when your instructions are Dot followed:

20. a. Giving a command and just knowing tbat it wiD be executed:"It can also be defined as giving a command and just knowing that it will be executed despite anycontrary appearances. In other words, Tone 40 is positive postulating."HeOR 13 Nov. 1981 "What Tone 40 Is" Vol. XlI Pg. 359

20. b.lntention =an idea that one is going to accomplish - do - something:"The term 'Tone 40' as we use it to describe an action is most simply defined as:

'AN EXECUTION OF INTENTION'(Execution in this context means: to carry out, to accomplish; to fulfill. Intention = an idea that one isgoing to accomplish -do - something; it is positive direction ofan idea. An intention is not words, nor isit dependent upon words.)To define it more comprehensively: Tone 40 is a positive postulate with no counter-thought expecte~anticipated or anything else; that is, total control. It

What can you do when difficulties appear?

21. a. "A not-isness is a protest."Isness 23.7.64 Phoenix Lectures, Pg. 42

21. b. Because the physical universe is designed to resist:"Because the physical universe is designed to resist and overcome that which resists it, a continuousresistance to other direction than one's own results finally in a loss ofability to greater or lesser degreeto direct oneself.""...and by ceasing to resist it, no longer validates it as a barrier, and so is not concentrating attention onresisting direction but is able to use it freely in his own self-direction."Scientology Issue 24-G 1/54 2nd ACe Vol. 3 Pg. 294

21. c. Now the trick of the MEST universe is that it won't let anybody fmish a cycle of action:"Now the trick ofthe MEST universe is that it won't let anybody finish a cycle of action, because itsvectors are 180 degree in reverse."Summary To Date: Handling Step I And Demo PDC #54 Vol. 6 Pg. 85

21. d. The whole philosophy of the MEST universe:"The whole philosophy ofthe MEST universe is what you don't want, we're going to give you and whatwe give you, you don't want. All right. Not much difference between that andjail."Sop Issue 5: Step I 10 VII cont. 24 March 1953 Admiration Vol. 1 Pg. 58

21. e. Resistance and restraint are the barbed wire of this concentration camp:"Resistance and restraint are the barbed wire of this concentration camp. Accept the barbed wire andthere is no camp. rt

"That which one cann.ot accept, he cannot as-is." That's quite a law. Ifyou can't accept it, you can't asis it. If you can't as-is it, it'll exist, won't it? And it'll trap you."The Scope OfDianetics AndScientology 11.Nov.1954 Creation OfHuman Ability Vol. 2 Pg. 132, 133

How do you handle confusions?

22. a. You ignore the confusion:"And the answer to that is very, very powerfully true. And after a great many tests and much doubt itturned out to be, unassailably, you handle the stability - you bring about the stability and you ignore theconfusion."The Bank out ofControl and its Stabilization 580122 19'h ACe Vol. 1 Pg. 47

22. b. A worse condition, a confusion, a difficulty, a problem:"And you say, 'A worse condition, a confusion, a difficulty, a problem' and you're all saying aconfusion. See?"Windup On Stable Datum And Rest Points 561102 The Power OfSimplicity 15th ACC Vol. 2 Pg. 27

22. c. We ignore the confusion. We don't not-is it:"We ignore going through any confusion. We ignore the confusion. We don't not-is it. We just drill theperson until he discovers that it is incapable ofstopping him or varying his intention. And when he haslearned that, the funniest things happen."Tone 40 On An Object 6 July 1957 Freedom Congress Pg. 143

Page 10: Postulate Seminar by Gerhard Schwandt, Handouts (2006)

22. d....ignore the continuous stimulus-response operation of the physical universe:"...and brings him at last to the point where he can neglect and ignore the continuous stimulus-responseoperation ofthe physical universe."Scientology Issue 24-G 1/54 2nd ACe Vol. 3 Pg. 294

Why should you stay at tone 40?

23. a. But supposing these people.... could influence MEST or people with no more than apostulate: "But supposing these people, by their own postulate, cutting through all confusions, couldinfluence MEST or people with no more than a postulate. Ahhh. Now we know why we're talking aboutTone 40 auditing. Not only would they themselves have to be at a place where they were no longerconfused every time they saw a confusion in their vicinity, but they would also have to be able to cutthrough any confusion of their own or any confusion ofanyone else and make the intention and postulatego through and stick and be executed."Tone 40 On An Object 6 July 1957 Freedom Congress Pg.142

23. b....there would already be doubt in the postulate and it wouldn't work anyway:"So what you set yourselfup to do is succeed in this life, but there isn't any worry about it. You see, ifyou were worrying about whether you were to - going to succeed or going to fail, there would already bedoubt in the postulate and it wouldn't work anyway."Esto Tape Nr. 5: Handling Personnel. Part II

Why do you continue to postulate what you want?

24....and postulate it and postulate it and postulate it and postulate it, and he'D have it!:"The funny part of it is, as you go up toward freedom, you get in'more and more into an aesthetic band;you get into, simultaneously, a confidence band. You get higher and higher and higher, up the line, untilyou finally achieve something like a violent, fast, highly ecstatic, tremendously emotional type of life. Itwould be enough for an individual simply to postulate that freedom - it won't as-is, you know - andpostulate it and postulate it and postulate it and postulate it, and he'll have it!"The Factors 29 Oct 1954 Creation ofHuman Ability Vol. 2 Pg. 11

Wbat can you do if the difficulties still not disappear?

25. a. "You know ilyon can just duplicate it often enough, you'D be able to handle it."Space, Perception, Knowingness, Part I 531130 2nd ACe Vol. 3 Pg. 106

25. b. «AXIOM: In the MEST universe. the single crime is duplication. "Scientology Issue 24-G 1/54 2nd ACC Vol. 3 Pg. 188

Page 11: Postulate Seminar by Gerhard Schwandt, Handouts (2006)

What does beingness have to do with handling difficulties?

26. a•• ..be it, do with it, and have it.••that is escape:"And it happens to be a fact that in order to escape from something utterly and to render it null and void,or even to use it, one must be willing to be it, do with it, and have it. And that is escape."Plan o/SOP 8-C 4 Dec. 1953 rd ACC Vol. 3 Pg. 90

26. b....tn1ng to control things, not be them:~'That's the other thing that a preclear has been tIying consistently and continually to do. He's beentrying to control things, not be them. You see, you could control a body very easily, all you'd have to dois walk up and you'd say to yourself, •All right, I'm a body.' "The Elements With Stress On How To Run Matched Terminals (cont.) 530325 Admiration Vol. 1 Pg. 90

26. c. Beingness is below confrontingness:"A person is. Well, he's in the state he's in because he is unwilling to be so many other things, finally. He's unwilling to be a great many of these things; he's unwilling to confront things. You realize thatconfrontingness is above - on the Tone Scale - above beingness; that beingness is below confrontingnesson the Tone Scale? You'll get used to that. We have found a higher order ofexistence than beingness when we speak, of course, ofbeing all these problems and other people."Havingness in General and Bodies in Particular 570104 16'h ACC Vol. 1 Pg.35

26. d....wben he limited his beingness..., he was in the soup!:"He limited his beingness for one reason or another, and when he limited his beingness for one reason oranother, he was in the soup! He was no longer willing to be something!"SOP Utility 530327 Admiration Vol. 1 Pg. 133 '

26. e. Ifa saber-toothed tiger stops you on a path..•.Be the saber-toothed tiger and change yourmind: "Ifa saber-toothed tiger stops you on a path, the wrong thing to do - you, a thetan; now we're nottalking about a body in limitation, we're talking about a thetan - the wrong thing to do is tum and run.Particularly if you as a thetan have something - like a body. Wrong thing to do is turn and run. Youwant to protect the body? Be the saber-toothed tiger and change your mind."Plan o/SOP 8-C 4 Dec. 1953 r ACC Vol. 3 Pg.90

26. f ••••so that by being the couch, you don't become the couch, the couch becomes you:"But 'to be' is cause. And 'not to be' is effect. And so 'to be' along the dynamics you have to be causealong the dynamics. And when you go into another person's valence you can say to yourself 'Yes, I ambeing that other person.' No, you are not. Ifyou were being that other person, you would be able, actually:, to see that other person change ifyou were cause. Whereas by going into his valence, youbecome effect a little bit and you change, see? Different. When you go out along the dynamics, you wantto go out along the dynamics so that by being the couch, you don't become the couch, the couchbecomes you. See the difference? Now, there's a very important difference."Decision: Cause And Effect, 20. May 1952 Route to Infinity Pg. 51

Page 12: Postulate Seminar by Gerhard Schwandt, Handouts (2006)

Is there anything else tbat you can do?

27. a. In studying the Axioms you're of course studying the very ideas which got you into thehorrible condition you eventually got into:The Logics andAxioms ofDianetics and Scientology 590416 Ski/Is ofa Theta Being Vol. 1. Pg. 171

27. b. So the action of going over the Axioms in general, the Logics and Prelogics, simply results inthe discharge of a tremendous amount of stupidity:"But ifthe study is pmsued - remember what I told you about order being the basis and disorder beingthe second postulate. Therefore, the first postulate can discharge the second postulate. So the action ofgoing over the Axioms in general, the Logics and Prelogics, simply results in the discharge of atremendous amount of stupidity. Grogginess, susceptibility to flows, all of these things could be subheaded just 'being stupid.' They are mechanisms of forgetting, you see? Mechanisms of forgettingness."The Logics AndAxioms OfDianet;cs And Scientology 590416 Skills ofa Theta Being Vol. 1. Pg. 162

What is the difference between a symbol and a mock-up?

How do I make a postulate that really works?

How do I get the postulate to materialize?

What can I do when the opposite happens?

How do I undo unwanted postulates?

From uncettainty to certainty.

From certainty to Flourish and Prosper!

A word of advice:

When studying any of the early lectures where LRH talks about Creative Processesand/or Mock-up Processes and talks about how to run these processes etc.:Do not try to run these processes on yourself or others!

The references are:HCOB 11 February 1960 "Create and Confront" Vol. V Pg. 310HCOB 30 June 1960 "Create Again" Vol. V Pg.424

Please read the whole HCOBs since I'm only printing excerpts here:

HCOB 11 February 1960 "Create and Confront" Vol. V Pg.310:

"Out of this we now have an understanding of what a limited process is. Any processwhich makes the preclear create is a limited process and should be avoided. Suchprocesses as "Tell a lie" are Creative Processes."

"When a pc over-creates, he accumulates the unconfronted debris. All you have to do torestimulate debris (stiffen up the bank) is to run the pc and some version of a CreateProcess."

HCOB 30 June 1960 "Create Again" Vol. V Pg.424:

"If a person is in any valence, he is victimized by his own creation. To produce orcreate anything is to invite a toughening of the reactive mind.

"If HELP is flat on numerous terminals and if the E-Meter no longer reacts to Helpquestions of any kind, the person is MEST Clear. Only now is it really safe for anyauditor to handle the subject of create."

LRH on POSTULATESThe Way To Flourish And Prosper

Hello and welcome to the seminar!1. The whole philosophy of the MEST universe:--The whole philosophy of the MEST universe is what you don't want, we're going to give you andwhat we give yo~ you don't want. All right. Not much difference between that and jail."SOP Issue 5: Step I to VII cont. 24 March 1953 - Admiration & the Renaissance ofBeingness Pg. 58

2. There's a reverse action....That what a person tries to be he fails to become:"Well now, there's a reverse action on all this beingness. That which a person tries not to be, hebecomes. That which a person tries to be he fails to become. Because that's the MEST universe, it hasreverse flows in it, and it works backwards."SOP Issue 5: Step I to VII cont. 24 March 1953 - Admiration & the Renaissance ofBeingness Pg. 59

3. It's vectors are 180 degree in reverse:'-Now, the trick of the MEST universe is that it won't let anybody finish a cycle ofaction, because itsvectors are 180 degree in reverse."Summary to Date: Handling Step I and Demo - PDC# 54

4. When you devote your own energy to it:-'When you devote your own energy to it, you're going to have something worth having. But when youinsist on having that energy handed to you by the MEST universe, you'll wind up with trash everytime. So what I'm trying to stress here is the confusion that's the MEST Universe is not evenimportant anymore to address even vaguely. All you have to do is rehabilitate the individual's ability tohandle his own and make his own space and energy."What's Wrong With This Universe - PDC # 24

s. You will be flabbergasted at the amount of MEST there is 'wrapped up in postulates:-'Now, the funny part of it is that a postulate is a gradient scale itself. It's not an absolute thing. Whenyou start to undo postulates and you use the action cycle of Postulate Processing, you'll see what Imean. You will be flabbergasted at the amount of MEST there is wrapped up in postulates, and howthoroughly enMESTed a person normally is in making postulates. He isn't making them free. Hediscovers for the first time that his decision level is an enslaved thing to MEST when he starts to use anaction cycle ofpostulates."Gradient Scale ofHandling Space, Energy and Objects - PDC #5

11. "Terminal, 1. it would be any fixed mass utilized in a communication system. That, I think, is thebest of the various definitions that have come out for this. Any mass used in a fixed position in anycomptunication system. Thus you see a man would be a terminal, but a post could also be aterminal." Tech Dictionary Pg 426

12. "And the way you make a postulate which results in a terminal is simply to make a terminal. You get the idea? There's no via of 'I now will think that I will mock-up a postulate and one ought toappear from someplace.' I'm sorry, but there's nothing going to happen unless you put the terminalthere. 16. That would be a theta postulate:"You could have a postulate without regard to evaluations, cone;lusions or time. And that would be atheta postulate... There's a whole horizon of thinking that has nothing whatsoever to do with logic... Imean it's just a - you could just arbitrarily think.... Now, a theta-level postulate is always senior toassociative stimulus-response postulate. 21. Postulates cover aU the isness there is:"And the individual says, 'Well, a postulate is a thought.' 68. The Two Pillars''Now, let's be 'reasonable' about this MEST universe at this time, and let's put in two supports - twosupports under the MEST universe - I mean, pardon me, under the individual. And we'll see him sortof sitting on two columns at once. And ifwe remove one of the columns, he falls down as far as we'reconcerned. And one of the columns is the certainty of reality, hanging to the MEST universe for anorientation point and the other column is a certainty that it's illusion and his illusions. We removeeither column, from our viewpoint, and our individual falls down. Now, please get a mental picture ofthat. Please get a picture of your preclear as he is sitting there onthe couch and he is telling you about the grimness of life, and just look at this preclear as somebodywho's sitting on the floor in the midst ofone shattered column and trying, the damn fool, to reach upand grab a hold ofthe only whole column left. And that whole column has a sign on it that says'MEST Universe Reality.' And your preclear, the more he sits there on the floor amongst thatshattered bits of a column, the more he will reach over and try to grab hold of this column calledMEST universe and get back up there again. But he can't do it. The column that is important to himand the column that you must put together again is the column in the wreckage ofwhich he is sitting. And you're got to assemble this column, and that's got a big sign, when it's finally assembled, says"Nothing Here Is Real at All."Now, if he gets that column assembled, erected, and ifhe gets that under him....Everybody's holdingup this MEST universe column; it isn't going to wander away. So you can put him back on that easily, but the trick is to put him back on illusion first. That auditor who can rehabilitate the hopes and dreams of a man has rehabilitated the man."Illusion Processing 20 Nov 1952 R&D Series 12 Pg. 4 & 5

"So we'll take the certainty ofunreality, the certainty of illusion, and we find out that we have at least a50 percent necessity for the certainty of illusion. It's a necessity in existence. Whoever it was thatsaid, 'When you have two loaves ofbread, sell one ofthem and buy white hyacinth for thy soulssake,'! that person was sort ofunderstating it, you know, as a sort- of a British 2 poem. Ifyou have twoloaves ofbread and that's all you've got (God help you!), take a gun, take an ax, take anything, andforce somebody to swap one ofthose loaves ofbread for an illusion, because your life depends on it.That loaf ofbread will not stand in the stead ofa good, un-solid, unsubstantial illusion. That un-solidand unsubstantial illusion evidently is the sole pillar of sanity. Interesting, isn't it?"Rlusion Processing 20 Nov 1952 R&D Series 12 Pg. 4Jreference to a poem by American publisher and poet James Terry White...The poem is an adaptation of an ancient Persiansaying by an unknown author.:1British: (figurative) reserved or understated.

69. "And by the way, that is the senior certainty: Can you be sure, that your illusion is illusion? Andifyou're - have certainty that your illusion is illusion, you have the senior certainty. It is moreimportant for a man to know that his illusions are illusions than it is for him to know that the MESTuniverse is real." fllusion Processing and Therapy 52.11.. R&D 12 Pg. 294

70. Decide to flourish and prosper! And then Flourish and Prosper!:"But much ofthat is in the future. So does one simply wait? Or is there something one can do rightnow? There is: Decide to flourish and prosper! And then Flourish and Prosper! There is no more deadly way to get even with a suppressive or an antagonistic person or adowngrading society than by flourishing and prospering."LRHED 307 Int, Ron's Journal 311.12.79

71. Postulates (The Governor)

UJust imagine yourselfbeing able to conquer the whole cockeyed universe, ofdoinganything you want to do, ofbeing utterly, completely unrestricted andfree in alldirections to do whatever you pleased - bad, good or indifferent - and to be strong, powerful and unassailable. Just think ofyourselfin that term. That governor starts youspeeding up. Just think ofyourselfas doing that. Go ahead, think ofyourselfalong thatline. All right, ]'11 tell you a little mechanism that's probably going on in your minds: thesecondyou start to think that unlimitedly, you start bunging* into postulates where youexcused the fact that you weren't running at that in the past. Isn't that right? All right. But ifyou wouldjust sit down and say to yourself 'This is the way I think aboutthings, and I'm going to think about these things in spite ofanything that comes up, 'you'l1 be bringing in your own postulates against this andjust knocking them outbecause they come in and they try to go up against it and blow, and theyjust keepblowing. You've turned this up - you're going to be expansive and conquer everything, you know you can embrace the whole universe, you know that nothing can stop you. Youjust go ahead on this forward vector andyou keep running into these locks and theykeep blowing. It's practically an automatic clearing device. I don't know how manyhours you'd have to sit andpostulate that in order to blow everything out, buteverything would blow. So, you've got a very simple mechanism. That governor brings you up to speed. You see, you start running at a higher level ofspeed, everything that you brought up to make you run at a lower speed will blow.As a -matter offact, it's much shorter and simpler than this. Ifat this momentyou simplymade up your minds thatyou were handsome, beautiful, strong, dangerous, powerful, that you knew everything there was to know, you were totally capable in anyjob thatyou undertook or any sport you undertook - ifyou really believed that, andyou canbelieve it, some ofyourfaces would change physically before my eyes."There is this mechanism. You study your own selfa little bit andyou will suddenlyfindit. Very simple to come by.The Theta Facsimile - Part II R&D Series Vol. 8 Pg. 242 & 243
