“We have intentionallyavoided invitation to celebri-ties. Initially, we used to invitethem to popularise the event.Now, we want the 10K run to

Jealousy responsible

“Jealousy is the main factorin such cases. Even kith and

kin or acquaintances can't seesomeone close to them flour-ishing and hence develop agrudge against them. More -over, this is the easiest way ofearning. If they want to earnmoney by working it will takeyears,” said P Jyothi Raja, asenior child psychologist.

“Another important thing,”she says, “ is that earlier peopleused to lead a simpler life bynot revealing their actualwealth. But, now-a-days peopleare sho wing off their wealth bycelebrating big, which is invok-ing frustration among others.Basically human tendency is 'If Idon't have, then even heshouldn't have it.' They loosecontrol and tend to commitcrime. At this stage they are noteven bothered about the conse-quences or that it may straintheir family relations.”

But why target children."Children are the safe ta rgetsas the resistance is mi ni mum.Children blindly trust th em andcan't make out their pl ot. Ifsomeone hurts them physicallythey may forget as time pass-es, but if they hurt someoneclose to them, especially theirchildren, the cuts are deeper."

He is one among the15-odd visually-challengedyouths bubbling with enthusi-asm to induce an experience ofbeing blind among those whocan see at Dialogue in theDark, established on the Level5 at InOrbit Mall at Madhapurless than a year ago.

It isn't an amusement parkor an art exhibition to titillatethe basic instincts. It is a con-cept woven around "socialinclusion of marginalised peo-ple around the globe."

What’s it all about? Whatdoes it feel like when you turnvisually challenged? You giverest to your eyes and yourother sensory organs willobviously assume charge. Youbegin to touch and feel, youtend to smell effectively, youlearn to listen carefully, andyou obviously communicate

The Dialogue in The Dark isan exhibition created byAndreas Heinecke, a Germanjournalist, in 1988 with the firstpremier show at Fran kfurt inGermany. He actually createdthe Dialogue in the Dark whiledeveloping a programme for acolleague who lost his eyesight.While it remained a travellingexhibition for a decade, thefirst permanent exhibition was

set up at Hamburg in Germanyin 2000. It is called Dialog imDunkeln in German.

While over six million peo-ple visited the exhibition fromacross 25 locations in Japan,Italy, Israel, Australia and theUSA, the Dialogue in the Darkhas presence in several coun-tries across the globe now.Hyderabad is the chosen loca-tion for the company to estab-lish its centre in India.

As you enter, you are madeto deposit all that glitters,including your wrist-watch,pen, mobile phone, ring, andthe likes. You are allowed totake some small currencyinside. A totally or partiallyblind person will brief you on

how to love the environmentwithout being able to see. Theexhibition has multiple the -mes like Park, Fountain, andboat tour.

After you are thoroughlybriefed, the guide walks youthrough the exhibition. A visi-tor (in case there are more thanone visitor, they will have towalk in a queue one after theother) is ushered in with all thewarmth that a guest can expectfrom his/her most loved ones.

For instance, the visitortouches and feels the leaves ofplants, a large trunk of a tree, a

small cantilever hanging bri -dge, a wooden bench where thevisitors are engaged by theguide in a dialogue. Then thevisitors are made to buy achocolate of their preference.

While the general practiceof people is to litter the place bythrowing away the wrappers,the guide makes sure that youdispense the chocolate covers

in a garbage bin.The visitor walks back to

The shows for visitors runfrom 11am through 9pm onweek days and 11am to 10pmon weekend days — Saturdayand Sunday. In fact, Dialogue in theDark has as its mission “tofacilitate social inclusion ofmarginalised people on a glob-al basis”.

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court onSaturday dismissed the plea ofmembers of Team Anna andothers seeking a direction to theprobe agencies to investigateand lodge an FIR for alleged cor-ruption in the CommonwealthGames-related cases.

Additional Chief Metro -politan Magistrate Amit Bansal,who rejected the application forregistration of the FIR, however,said if Kiran Bedi, ArvindKejriwal, Swami Agnivesh, yogaguru Ramdev and others want tofurnish any further evidence insupport of their claims, theycould submit it on February 7.

“The application is dis-missed. As far as CWG scam isconcerned, I am not passing anyorder now. The date fixed for fur-ther evidence, if any, will beFebruary 7,” the court said.

The complainants hadalleged that despite massive cor-ruption in the Games-relatedworks, probe agencies have notbeen probing all the cases.

They alleged contracts wereawarded for Games-related pro-jects without following any pro-cedure. PTI

Delhi Police files FIR against Kiran BediNEW DELHI: The Delhi Policetoday (Sunday) registered acase against former top copand Team Anna member KiranBedi for alleged cheating andmisappropriation of funds incollusion with foreign compa-nies and foundations.

“We have registered a caseagainst her (Kiran Bedi) underSections 406 (criminal breachof trust), 420 (cheating) and120 (B) (criminal conspiracy) ofthe Indian Penal Code,”Deputy Commissioner ofPolice (crime) Ashok Chandsaid. A Delhi court had onSaturday directed police to filea case against Bedi on a com-plaint filed by petitionerDevinder Chauhan.

Chauhan alleged that Bedicheated various paramilitaryforces and state police organi-sations on the pretext of pro-viding free computer training

to troopers’ families under thebanner of her NGO IndiaVision Foundation.

Bedi said she was not sur-prised by the development andit only strengthened herresolve to do more. “I aminformed an FIR is registeredagainst me. For me now noth-ing is a surprise!” Bedi said onmicro-blogging site Twitter. “Itonly strengthens my resolve todo more,” she added.

Bedi was caught in a con-troversy last month when itwas revealed that she allegedlygave inflated travel bills to var-ious social organisations andeducational institutions thatinvited her for lectures.

Global firms may face hurdlesNEW DELHI: With BJP, JD(U),AIADMK, BSP and Trinamool Congressstrongly opposing FDI in multi-brandretail, global chains may face problemsin opening stores in 28 of the 53 citieswhich have been thrown open to retail-ers like Walmart and Carrefour.

The parties and alliances ruling in11 major states have strongly opposedthe decision of the Central governmentto allow foreign direct investment(FDI) in multi-brand retail which isdominated by small traders.

According to 2011 Census, there are28 cities in 11 states ruled by the partiesopposed to the decision. These include

big cities like Bangalore, Kolkata,Ahmedabad, Patna, Allahabad andBhopal, which have over one millionpopulations — the threshold set byCabinet while approving FDI in retail onNovember 24. Excluding Punjab, BJPand NDA rule in eight states: MadhyaPradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Chat -tisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Biharand Himachal Pradesh. BJP indicatedthat states where the party is in powermay not permit foreign stores.

Fairy lights shimmer, aspretty baubles catch theglimmer. Colourfuldrapes add that festive

touch even as girls dressed in alltheir finery giggle. The soundsof shehnais and dhols fill the aireven as the blushing brideawaits her handsome groom.Every other night, there’s abaraat being taken as enthusi-astic revellers dance to the beatof the gregarious weddingbands. The wedding season ishere and it’s hard to miss.

The year-end is usually onethat is filled with festive cheerwhat with the Christmas good-will and the promise of theNew Year. But being the wed-ding season only adds to thefestive flavour. And weddingsacross the country are under-going a sea change. New ritualsare being fused with the tradi-tional ones to create a pleasantcocktail of celebrations.

For instance, a few years ba -ck, if one would recall a south In -dian wedding, they would recallscenes of ladies in heavy kanjee-varams and men in pattu dhotislooking as the pundit read themantras and solemnised thewedding. A stark contrast to theloud and pompous north Indianweddings. But things are chang-ing. Everybody wants to have abachelor’s/h en’s parties, cocktailparty, meh e ndi, sangeet andbaraat. The tra ditional weddingfinery is changing too. Brightlehengas and cocktail gowns arethe in thi ngs, even as kundanjewellery is replacing chunkygold jewellery.

Wedding stylist, Dinaz No -ria, shares her experience ofmaking these dream weddingsturn a reality. “Unlike earlier,weddings nowadays havebecome a much more elaborateaffair. People want to make itthe most memorable event andshare their happiness with theirnear and dear ones. There are afew rituals that have percolatedfrom north India like Sangeetand Mehendi. The whole ideafor people nowadays is to makethe wedding more colourful,lively and cheerful. Earlier,weddings were more seriousaffairs. Now people haveenhanced the other ceremoniesand made it larger,” she says.

So, gone are the days whenthe wedding would be just anauspicious affair. While expen-sive beverages flow duringcocktail parties, menus areundergoing a revamp even asnew traditions are being intro-duced. The otherwise uptightuncles and aunties also gladly

let their hair down and breakinto a jig on the dance floorwhen the occasion calls for it.But despite the cosmopolitannature of weddings these days,the actual wedding ceremonyremains untouched.

Radhika Reddy, a weddingplanner feels the marriage sce nein Hyderabad has changed byleaps and bounds not only interms of rituals but also the de -cor and preparations. Every -thing has become extravagantand elaborate. “There are a lot

of rituals that have beenimbibed from north India.There are cocktail parties beforethe rituals begin. These days,weddings last for a minimum ofa week. Pre and post marriageparties have become the normof the day and people don’tmind extending their budgetsfor the same,” she says.

Dinaz Noria shares the latesttrends on the wedding styles this

season saying that its vintagelook people are going gaga over.“This season is all about goingarty and classic. People are benttowards the vintage feel for theirwedding. They want it to be likethose old palace, royal feel, andclassy older touch to the wed-ding. Also, the paintings aresomething attracting people thisseason, they want a lot of paint-ings on things, like Madhubani.While the Sangeet and otherfunctions still continue on theglass and crystal looks, but it’s

“One thing that south Indianever compromises is on flow-ers. They are flown from allacross the world. The cold onescoming down from Europe,while the warm ones fromThailand and China. It’s allabout keeping it real and notfake and plastic.” adds Dinaz.

While weddings have

become the superlative versionof grandeur, one more small butsignificant part that marks thebeginning of this auspiciousand memorable affair is wed-ding cards.

“Cards have gone to a differ-ent level altogether — fromscented candles to wine bottlesto all the exotic stuff. It is allabout making a statement andthis season has seen a lot ofmusical cards,” she says.

So why is this change?Radhika replies, “It is mainly

because Hyderabadis have ahuge spending power. The wed-dings have become a competi-tive affair and also a means toshow off which in a way worksfine for event managers, as weget bigger orders.”

In fact, weddings havebecome ostentatious these daysthat people don’t think twicebefore placing an order for exot-ic flowers and food. Radhika

reveals, “Nowadays, flowers areordered from Holland, make upis no less than a Mac with wellknown make-up artistes roped in and celebrity photogra-phers capture candid moments.There is a spread of delicacieswith an innumerable variety ofcuisines. An average weddingthese days would cost upwardsof Rs 20 lakh.”

Just take a look at the wed-ding celebrations of the Allus,Nandamuris or GVKs; and you’llget an idea of what we’re talking

about. But it’s not just the cremede la creme of the society that isgoing all out to celebrate wed-dings. Attend any true blue Hy -derabadi wedding and you aresure to catch glimpses of whatwealth can bring into the wed-ding season. At the end of theday the idea is to have the bestwedding of the season, one thatwill leave a lasting impressionon the guests and the couple.

After spending years in Beyoncé's booty-licious shadow, the former Destiny'sChild star, is back in the spotlight asone of the judges on this year's X

Factor. Initially, it sounds as if this new-found

attention has gone to Rowland's head. "I'mnot tacky, I just love myself," she asserts overI'm Dat Chick's Gaga-esque backing. For onewho seems so confident, however, she's unwill-ing to take risks on her third solo album. Mildlyraunchy R&B ballads are the default setting here,with Rowland sounding like a less exotic Rihanna."Sometimes you gotta do it, don't talk too much, justkiss and touch, and just do it," she advises on thesynth-heavy All of the Night.

Stranger still, given the X Factor associations,there's a conspicuous lack of window-shattering highnotes on display. Instead, Rowland is largely contentto purr over plodding beats and plaintive piano.

Even a cameo from the usually brilliant Lil Waynefails to liven things up. "It goes deep, but I go deep-er/Make you lose yourself, like finders keepers," hedrawls on Motivation, sounding about as motivated

as Eeyore on a hangover. Backed by bolder beats, however, and

Rowland can sound like a star in her own right.Turn it Up is a frenetic floor-filler and Lay it on Mehas an irresistible chorus, though the less saidabout the David Guetta-inspired Commando, thebetter.

A missed opportunity.

Fair play to Olly Murs, runner-up to Joe McElderry in X Factor 2009.Not only has he clung on to make a second album but he's even co-written some of it. Alas, he's rather foolishly taken to comparing him-self with Paul Weller as a lyricist. He's nothing of the kind, of course,

and for all In Case You Didn't Know's bright eyes and bushy tail, it veersfrom a karaoke version of Bruno Mars's The Lazy Song on the title track to akaraoke version of Bruno Mars's Grenade on Anywhere Else, supplemented

by the aimless plod of Just Smile and theanodyne Just Smile. Rizzle Kicks

bring a hint of edge to HeartSkips A Beat and Murs's

voice is undeniably pass-able but don't take bets

on a third album hap-pening.

Auguste Arthur Bondy is one of those numerous gentle-men from the southern US (in this case, Alabama) whohave arrived on the planet with mellifluous vocalcords and the ability to navigate a fret board with

some ease. Believers is a collection of songs that eschew thedreary clichés of alt country, in favour of a dreamy rock 'n' rollsound, spiked with just a hint of magic mushroom. The bestsongs from this tight little three-piece ensemble — MaceyTaylor on bass, Ben Lester on drums and occasional pedal steelguitar — fill in some gaps between Chris Isaak (The Twist) andTom Petty (Rte.28/Believers). Other highlights include DRMZ,Hiway/Fevers and Skull & Bones. If your pumpkin pie recipecalls for cinnamon butyou’ve used the last of it,nutmeg, ginger or car-

damom will do. Out of olive oil?Try applesauce. A new in-depthanalysis of recipes, reviews andsuggestions from an onlinefoodie site reveals that manyrecipes are more flexible thanstandard cookbooks suggest.

Researchers mined morethan 40,000 recipes and nearlytwo million reviews from thewebsite Allrecipes.com, investi-gating various aspects of cook-ing and ingredient preferences.“We wondered if the analysiswould let us see how flexiblerecipes are,” says co-authorLada Adamic of the Universityof Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Her team discovered thatthere’s a lot of wiggle room. Theanalysis, reported online atarXiv.org, identified several clus-ters of ingredients that can beswapped for one another.

For the uninitiated, usingless sugar than called for, orsubstituting or skipping an

ingredient altogether, could ruina dish. But distilling the collec-tive wisdom of recipe reviewsrevealed alternates that wouldallow even the culinary chal-lenged to improve a dish or tai-lor it to their tastes.

Adamic, Michigan’s Chun-Yuen Teng and Yu-Ru Lin ofHarvard and North-easternUniversity in Boston generateda list of the top 1,000 ingredi-ents, which accounted for 94.9per cent of the ingredients inthe database. The team notedheating methods, such as broil-ing and simmering, and variousfood processing techniques,both mechanical (such as grind-ing) and chemical (such as mar-inating). Recipe ratings andregional preferences within theUnited States were also takeninto account.

Then the team created ahuge diagram of ingredientsthat are frequently substitutedfor one another, yielding a net-work of clustered communitiesof swappable ingredients. Asweet potato community, forexample, includes yams,pumpkin, potatoes, parsnips

and butternut squash. Milk,butter, chicken broth and sugarall have recipe doppelgangers.And in some instances, drop-ping ingredients all togetherwon’t hurt a dish.

A second ingredient dia-gram connected complemen-tary ingredients, pairings thatare found together more oftenthan expected by chance. Thisnetwork split cleanly into two communities, one sweetand one savoury. The onlyother community detectedwas a small satellite clustercomprising alcoholic drinkingredients.

Recipes that had healthiersubstitutions were typicallyrated more highly by users, theresearchers found, suggestingthat making such swaps easierfor users to find — such as witha roll-over or pop-up on a web-site — would enhance userexperience. Restaurants or mealplanners might even learn athing or two, says Lin, perhapsexperimenting with healthierreplacements on menus.

Other foodie preferencesalso emerged. Recipes thatcalled for processing foods insome way, rather than just toss-ing ingredients together, wererated more favourably. This linkcould relate to a longstandinghypothesis regarding the devel-opment of bigger brains in theevolution of humans and ourhominid relatives, the teamspeculates. Processing foodmechanically and chemicallymakes extracting nutrients easi-er, reducing the cost of diges-tion. Such techniques may haveallowed more nutritionalresources to be allocated towardgrowing bigger brains.

“This research gives us a lotof insight into how differentpeople want to eat their food,whether they prefer quick orhealthy,” says VaidehiVenkatesan who, with Ali Minaiat the University of Cincinnati,is investigating the relationshipsamong various cuisines. “It is areally great paper.”

And the research projecthelped the scientists feel slightlymore at ease in their ownkitchens. “I’ve felt more com-fortable leaving out nutmeg,”Adamic said.

Network analysis confirms ingredient swaps are feasible

Nerve stimulation upsairflow during sleep inobstructive sleep apnoea

Hypoglossal nerve stim-ulation (HGNS) pro-duced marked dose-

related increases in airflow inobstructive sleep apnoea(OSA) patients without arous-ing them from sleep, accordingto a new study from the JohnsHopkins Sleep DisordersCentre. The study suggests thepotential therapeutic efficacyof HGNS across a broad rangeof sleep apnoea severity andoffers an alternative to contin-uous positive airway pressure(CPAP), the current mainstayof treatment for moderate tosevere OSA. The effectivenessof CPAP is often limited bypoor patient adherence.

“With HGNS, airflowincreased in all of our patients,and increased progressivelywith stimulus amplitude,”according to Alan R Schwartz,MD, medical director of theSleep Centre at Johns HopkinsBayview Medical Centre. “Theincreases in airflow weobserved were of sufficientmagnitude to eliminate inspi-ratory airflow limitation (IFL)in the majority of patients.”

The findings were pub-lished online ahead of printpublication in the AmericanThoracic Society’s AmericanJournal of Respiratory andCritical Care Medicine.

The study, which was sup-ported by device manufactur-er Apnex Medical, Inc,enrolled 30 middle-agedpatients with moderate andsevere obstructive sleepapnoea who were implantedwith a novel HGNS system.The pacemaker-like devicemonitors breathing patternsand is activated during sleepto stimulate the hypoglossalnerve, which controls mus-cles in the upper airway.

During the study, currentwas increased stepwise dur-ing non-REM sleep.Frequency and pulse widthwere fixed. At each currentlevel, stimulation was appliedon alternating breaths so thatresponses in inspiratory air-flow could be compared toadjacent un-stimulatedbreaths, and maximal inspira-tory airflow (VImax) and IFLwere measured.

is a recurring theme in her book. Butdon’t lead that mislead you. For theuninitiated, Tina Fey is a woman thatcomes along once in a generation.Best known for her portrayal of for-mer Alaska Governor Sarah Palin

on Saturday Night Live, Tina Feyis a seven-time Emmy Awardwinning actress, comedian,writer and producer, and thecreator of her own television

series – 30 Rock. Bossypants isn’t your usual

memoir. Though it’s largelychronological, it’s a little jagged and

non-linear, much like you’d get fromsketchy comedy that Fey is so used to

writing. Through twenty-five oddchapters, Bossypants follows Fey from

the time of her birth through hernerdy childhood, awkward teenage

years with a group of gay friends,summer experiences in theater toher career at Saturday Night Live

and finally, how she came to cre-ate 30 Rock.

That said, don’t expect anyheart-wrenching revelations or

confessions or even anything verypersonal from Fey. Even the twochapters dedicated to her experi-ences on SNL and 30 Rock , whichare the most interesting, are heavilycensored. The most likely explana-tion is that perhaps that Bossypantsis more about the making of Fey thewoman than Fey the comedian.

What stands out however, isFey’s own take-no-prisoners brandof feminism and a righteous indig-nation that runs through out thebook. For instance, she relates astory about her SNL co-star AmyPoehler and writes “I think of it

whenever someone says to me, ‘Jerry Lewis sayswomen aren’t funny’. Or ‘Christopher Hitchenssays women aren’t funny?’... Do you have any-thing to say to that? Yes. We don’t f****** care ifyou like it.”

Similarly, a question that’s she’s “freakingalways asked,” about the difference betweenmale and female comedians has her sardonicallyremarking, “The men urinate in cups.”

In another instance, Fey explains the title ofthe book. As SNL’s first ever female lead writerand as the star and producer of 30 Rock, she isneedless to say, is the Bossypants. But despitehaving conquered a niche for herself in themale-dominated world of comedy, she is contin-ually plagued by those who doubt if she really isthe boss, responsible for 200 people on the show.

So, in a chapter titled Juggle This, she ripsapart her retractors by writing, “Ever since Ibecame an executive producer of 30 Rock, peo-ple have asked me ... ‘Is it uncomfortable for youto be the person in charge?’ You know, in thesame way they say, ‘Gosh, Mr.Trump, is it awk-ward for you to be the boss of all these people?’”

Needless to say, there’s plenty more wherethat came from. So, if you like the sassy, venom-tongued humour of Fey on television, chancesare that you are going to dig the generouslyinterspersed array of one-liners in Bossypants.

In 19th century France, the recklessindifference of the dominant mid-dle class towards any form of art

which didn’t have a moral purposeinfuriated artists and writers acrossEurope.

They sought to establish an orderwhere a work of art would be a self-sufficient entity, an end in itself. Therallying cry of the Aesthetic movement, as it came to be known,

was called l’art pour l’art (roughlytranslated as art for art’s sake). Butstrictly speaking, this was not thebeginning of the movement itself. Theroots of aestheticism can be tracedback to the late 1700s.

The German philosopherImmanuel Kant, for instance, wrote inhis book Critique of Judgment that apure aesthetic experience consists of“an objective contemplation of a formof art that pleases for its own sake.”Similarly, Edgar Allen Poe, describes inPoetic Principle (1850) that a greatpoem is one that’s a poem per se sansany didactic value.

French Aestheticism spilled overinto Victorian England courtesy ofWalter Pater who worshiped stylisticbeauty and high artifice. In its mostextreme form, poets like Flaubert andMallarme maintained that they fol-lowed the religion of “beauty” and thatlife was for art sake.

Proponents of the movementincluded greats like Oscar Wilde, TSEliot, JM Whistler, Yeats, TE Hulmeamong others. Even twentieth century

writers continue to argue the merits ofjudging art work by emphasis on itsintrinsic value like craft and artistryrather on its meaning or purpose.

When we catch upwith Saraswati, sheis busy dissuadingan aspiring actor

who has come to seek heradvice on how to break intomainstream cinema. “Only ifyou have someone to feed andhouse you for a long timeshould you even consider tryingit,” she tells him, and adds, “Andoh, consign yourself to not mak-ing money for a long, longtime.” But just before he leaves,even as she urges him to re-con-sider, Saraswati assures him ofwhatever help she can offer.

Then she turns to us and

recounts her own experience asa struggler in Mumbai. “It wasshocking to see how desperatepeople were, and how willingthey were to put everything onthe line, including their dignityand self-worth to a score abreak. I would never have donethat. And luckily I didn’t haveto,” says Saraswati, who got herchance to work in commercialcinema, quite fortuitously.

After a stint in hospitalitymanagement, Saraswati went tothe University of Salford in theUK for a PGD in DocumentaryFilm-making. It was on herreturn that she went to Mumbaiin search of work and foundcinema come knock ing on her

door. She worked for a coupleof years assisting with twomovies which didn’t release, butgave her valuable experience.Her third project howeverbrought her luck. Saraswatidonned the role of an assistantdirector for the critically ac -claimed Morning Raaga, andeven designed costumes forShabana Azmi and Tabu in it.“The team was amazing and itwas a great learning for me. ButI realised that it was going to bethe last commercial movie andthat my heart lay in documen-taries. Incidentally, it was thro -ugh Morning Raaga that I metShankar Melkote who initiatedme into activism,” she says.

“At the end of day, if youcan’t speak your mind or doyour thing, there’s simply nopoint. In that sense, documen-taries spoil you. You can workon your own and at your ownpace and won’t have to dependon a hundred other people.There are no constraints,” saysSaraswati who has made over adozen documentaries aroundvarious social issues rangingfrom illegal gemstone miningand other environmental issuesto human rights. Some of herprominent works includeBehind the Glitter, Between theDevil and the Deep Sea, TheGreen Trap, Paradox City,Cutting off a Lifeline,

Vision2020, Playtime, CoastUnder Attack, Seeds ofSovereignty and mostly recently,a profile on an HCU professorand gay activist, My Dear GayTeacher. Apart from being a doc-umentary film-maker and socialactivist, Saraswati is also a tal-ented photographer, whoseworks were recently displayed ina well-received exhibition.“People often tell me that in myphotographs and films they seelife as it is. That it’s almost likethere’s no camera. That’s gratify-ing,” she says, smiling.Interestingly, the documentaryfilm-maker is camera shy! “I getconscious in front of the cam-era,” she sheepishly admits.
