Postgraduate Routes into Teaching

Postgraduate Certificate in Education

e.g. Primary PGCE course at Hull Campus

(5 to 11 year olds)

e.g. Early Years PGCE at Scarborough

(3 to 7 year olds)

e.g. Secondary PGCE courses at Hull

Campus (various specialist subjects)

Main Features of the Hull Primary PGCE Course

A ‘Grade 1’ provider One-year, full-time course, lasting 38 weeks Pre-course day at the beginning of July Course starts at the beginning of September About 50% of time is spent in schools

> School 1 Autumn Term> School 2 Spring Term> School 3 Summer term> Plus other work in schools e.g. English course, Maths course, EAL visits

Substantial training in the Core subjects (English, maths and science)

Training in ALL Foundation subjects plus RE Strong emphasis on ICT e.g. using interactive whiteboards
