These postgraduate certificates are of benefit to physiotherapists working in the speciality of women’s health or continence rehabilitation across a variety of healthcare settings. They offer physiotherapists a range of opportunities to develop advanced knowledge, critical reasoning & practical skills relevant to their role in order to extend clinical practice in this field of rehabilitation.
These are currently the only programmes in the UK offering these specialist areas of study.

Each Postgraduate Certificate consists of two 30 credit core modules The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health (ACPWH) has endorsed this pathway and completion provides eligibility for membership of ACPWH.
Core Modules
Theory of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health 30 CreditsPractice of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health 30 CreditsOrContinence Theory for Physiotherapists 30 credits Continence Practice for Physiotherapists 30 credits
The core modules, which consist of theoretical and practical components, are delivered by University-based teaching blocks & in an appropriate clinical setting. Each student will be allocated a clinical mentor. Successful completion of both core modules will result in the award of a postgraduate certificate.It is possible to extend study and undertake additional modules towards the award of MSc Physiotherapy in Women’s Health / Continence Practice. Students who have completed other University courses in the last five years may have them considered to contribute to this Masters programme.
