Post Office Week was a BLAST!! Thank you to Brock and Catherine Greenwood for MAKING those amazing mailboxes!!! Also, to Roxey and her crew for all their mailroom sorting. What a fun week of letter writing!! There were even kids who didn’t want to go to recess so they could keep writing!! We will do that again next year!
Welcome to “Miss Bad” We want to welcome our new P.M. Kindergarten teacher, Miss Parisa Badizadegan, who is taking over for Mrs. Willey in the afternoon. Mrs. Willey is expecting identical twin girls in May and needs to take care of herself. We are excited for “Miss Bad” to be here. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2014 Magna Cum Laude with a 4.0 in Elementary Education. She was in the honors program! She is a brilliant scholar and the recipient of several scholarships and awards. She was awarded the Undergraduate Research Scholar, the UASCD Teacher of Tomorrow Award (2014), among other distinctions. She wrote her honors thesis with a distinguished technology Professor at the University of Utah, Dr. Kirsten Butcher. She will
begin her Master’s Degree in Education and technology at the University of Utah in the fall. She also has an extensive list of volunteer service she has provided as a reading tutor, camp counselor and STEM tutor. She loves service learning! She is amazing. She’s also a volleyball player!! We are so happy to have her join our faculty. Be sure and welcome her when you see her!
Time Flies! The weeks are flying by. Next week is the last week of February and then we only have three more months of school! Can you believe that??? This morning when I was driving to school and it wasn’t DARK outside, I was thinking that it feels like time goes by faster and faster every year. Is it just me? When I was younger, I used to find myself saying, “I’ll be so glad when I’m done with this exam, when this semester ends, when Christmas is here, when I get paid, when I make more money, when I go to Hawaii, when I move out, when I graduate, when I get married, and on and on. I think one day I was saying, “I’ll be so happy when. . .” about something I cannot even remember now but I do remember my mother’s response to me: “Don’t wish your life away. Enjoy NOW. Time goes by so quickly.” But back then, time did not seem to go by so quickly. Many years ago, when I drove back east to graduate school in my little Honda Civic with just a packed suitcase, my computer, and my down comforter, I remember saying, “I’ll be so happy when the moving truck comes with my furniture and my bed and my dining room table!” Then three days later it arrived.

PATRIOT NEWS
I remember making a great dinner, inviting the only friend I knew in Washington DC to come over and share it with me and she asked me what the occasion was. I said, “It’s WHEN!!” My furniture is here. I have my dishes, pots and pans, silverware and glasses. I could cook. I had a bed to sleep in. I had the rest of my clothes and my creature comforts back. I realized how great it was to stop and celebrate WHEN! Since that one day, I have been much better at NOT wishing my life away. I actually find myself wanting time to slow down! (Oh, and I want my kids to stop growing.) I’m so happy that I’m here in this amazing school with all of these amazing teachers and staff! I love all the students and their little worries and problems that they need solved. I love watching them learn and grow and improve each week and month. There is so much LIFE going on in this building. It’s incredible. I love it! I love now! It’s WHEN! We have to enjoy each now. Now is all we ever get! Have a wonderful week! Mrs. Swan

Dear Parents -
The end of the school year will be here before we know it and we have decided to make a big fundraising push with a big reward! Each grade will be competing for a huge ice cream party that will be held in May. Look for the ice cream party bulletin board in the lunchroom to see each grade's progress. For every 100 fundraising points turned in, they will earn one scoop on their grade's cone. At the beginning of May, the grade with the most scoops wins a huge ice cream party! So, turn in those Labels for Education, Box Tops and Coke Points for our amazing school and thank you for supporting Wasatch Peak Academy!
