ANNEXURE – I

DRAFT ADVERTISEMENT

GOVERNMENT OF _________________

DEPARTMENT OF _________________

SCHEME OF POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS BELONGING TO THE MINORITY COMMUNITIES.

Applications are invited from the students belonging to the minority communities

notified by the Central Government, pursuing higher education, from class XI upto Ph.D

in Government/ recognised private school/ college/ institute in cluding technical/

vocational courses of Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres (affiliated

with NCVT) of class XI & XII level and the courses other than covered under merit-cum

means based scholarship scheme (list appended) for post-matric scholarship to be awarded

by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. Application in the prescribed

format given at the end of the advertisement shall be submitted by the student to the

Secretary, Department of ___________________________________ through the Head of

the school/ college/ institute being attended by the student, latest by 15-09-2009.

Object

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarship to the meritorious students

belonging to economically weaker sections of minority communities to enable them to

pursue higher education from class XI to Ph.D and technical/ vocational courses for

enhancing their employability.

Scope

The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India only.

Conditions for scholarship

(a) To be eligible, students should have not less than 50% marks in the previous

final examination.

(b) The annual income, from all sources, of the students’ parents or guardian should

not exceed Rs.2 lakh. Students from BPL families, having the lowest income

shall be given preference in the ascending order.

(c) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail of any other

scholarship/stipend for pursuing the same course.

(d) Scholarships will not be given to more than two students in a family.

(e) 30% of scholarships will be earmarked for girl students. In case girl students are

not available then the scholarships earmarked for them will be awarded to

eligible boy students.

(f) Maintenance allowance will be credited to the students’ bank account.

RATE OF SCHOLARSHIP

Actual financial assistance will be provided for course fee/tuition fee and

maintenance allowance as given below subject to a maximum ceiling indicated

against item concerned:

CHECK LIST

1. To furnish the proposal as per prescribed format. To check / certify the following: [a] A separate account for this scholarship scheme is maintained.

[b] The claim belonging to a notified minority community i.e. Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist or Parsi has been verified and the State Government / UT Administration is satisfied with the claim.

[c] The school/ college/ institute where students are studying are Government or recognized private.

[d] The students proposed for award of scholarship have secured not less than 50% marks in previous final examination and that students from BPL families, having the lowest income have been given preference in the ascending order. [e] As the students belonging to minority communities could also belong to OBC, SC or ST category, it has been ensured that a student does not enjoy more than one scholarship. [f] The annual income, from all sources, of parents or guardian of the students should not exceed Rs.2 lakh. [g] Eligible girl students have been accommodated against the earmarked 30% scholarships for girl students, and where the balance have been transferred to boy students, it has been done only after the girl students’ merit list has been exhausted. [h] The reimbursement for admission fee and tuition fee claimed by students studying in the school/ institute has been checked and worked out as per the scheme. [i] The students applying for award of scholarship have bank account.

[j] Proposal for release of grant-in-aid under the scheme is sent for each minority communities in order of merit.
