SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION STUDIES POSITION NUMBER: PC07407 VACANCY: LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR – JOURNALISM Responsibilities: • Teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students • Supervision of postgraduate students • Handling of own administration • Research • Community service
Minimum requirements: • A Master’s degree or honours with 8 year professional experience as (Lecturer); or a PhD or Master’s
degree with 8 year professional experience (Senior Lecturer); or PhD (Associate Professor) • Approximately 1-8 years’ journalism experience as journalist and layout artist or subeditor
(Lecturer/Senior Lecturer), as well as a publication record and practical experience for Associate Professor
• Competence with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign • Computer literacy in MS Office, internet and email • Competence with social media, as well as online profiles on social media platforms • Skills in writing and subediting of copy in Afrikaans and English for printing, broadcasting and online
media • Experience in news, production and publications management • Good interpersonal relations and administration skills • Good communication skills • Ability to facilitate correct Afrikaans and English writing skills • Proof of language proficiency in order to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual
environments of the NWU Application must be accompanied by a complete journalist’s portfolio Recommendation • Experience in corporate journalism, news photography, html and Adobe Dreamweaver, as well as Apple

TOTAL REMUNERATION PACKAGE: R 293 180 – R390 871 (A8), R 367 010 – R 489 311 (A7) or R459 244 – R 612 254 (A6) per annum (employer contribution in respect of fringe benefits included)
