SAMS is not a club, it is a Society, dependent on each member at their best, for it’s survival.

CHRISTMAS IN JULYThe site is up and ready to take orders. Let’s

make a Summer run and see how many orders we can

get started with. Our Goal is one per member or 26 but

I’d love to see 50. I’ll go first.https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/pages/31944/Overview/?relatedId=16142On line link:

For the Good of the PostFrom the Post Commander

The Post Council/Officers met on July 11th and

made some decisions for the upcoming

program year. Recruiting is a big issue we need

to address. We also discussed the Schedule and

had to change some things. Some things are

just temporary, and some are well, changes.

Due to the uncertainty of the Corvid Virus, we

decided, to hold a very simple Burns Night

presentation with a piping of the haggis, a

SHORT Lament, toasts to the lads and lassies

and a 50/50 at the February Kilt Night.

Then we will hold our BIG Tartan Day

Banquet on April 10th with all the dressings,

thrills and frills. This will be our annual

fundraiser. The weather should be more

predictable and the Corvid, hopefully will have

run its course.

I am sad to say, after being so lucky the past

few years with so few Flowers of the Forest and

sick lists to print, there are masses this month.

Please check those sections and be sure to share

your thoughts and prayers with those hurting

and in pain.

August 5th will be a very special Kilt Night at

Bowman’s restaurant. There have been 15

nominations for the President’s Volunteer

Service Awards. The members will be receiving

Bronze (100 to 249 hrs.), Silver (250 to 499

hrs.) and Gold (Over 500 hrs.) These are

National Awards through the National Points of

Light Foundation. Please join us as we present

these special awards to our deserving

members. In all the Post completed 6514 hours

of Community Service for the 2019 calendar

hear. Congratulations

In addition we will be presenting the Vietnam

Service Pin to a few members and the

Quartermaster will be presenting the Color Sgt

with the Post’s new “Space Force Flag”.

Your most humble servant,

Bruce Dull, Post Commander

“SADDLE UP”

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.

The PVSA has continued under each administration, honoring the volunteers who are using their time and talents to solve some of the toughest challenges facing our nation.

Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.

Please pray for all the sick and shut ins and especially those

who are fighting demons on a daily basis. If you know

anyone struggling, please give their contact information to

the Post Chaplain, Pastor Robert Lewis so that he can offer

them the appropriate referrals.

Recruiting is a must in any organization. All you have

to do is ask. If one person can recruit 27 members, Who

cannot recruit 1 per year?

According to the “National” roster we are at 39

members. But in reality, We are at about 25 of which

about 12 participate and maybe 8 on a regular bases.

What would get you more involved?

Membership is open to Active duty members, veterans, Spouses and their children over 18.

There is no requirement to be Scots or Scots-Irish. Just a love or deep appreciation of Scottish Culture

Annual Officer’s MeetingThe Post Bylaws state the Officers must meet no later than 30 days after the June election. So, on July 11, the

Commander held Officers call. The minutes of the meeting are attached.

Sorry, we kind of split up and out before we could get a group Photo. But….

This is where Tucker sat most of the time getting petted by Dave Ricklis.

This is where Cassidy sat most of the time getting petted by Jack Gordon

This is the Space Force flag Quartermaster Harriett Dull was supposed to present Color Sgt, Michael Warren. However, Mike was out of town on business.

That is the Chair Quartermaster Harriett Dull was going to sit in but I ended up sitting in it. She stood behind Jack, after he took the chair she brought from the kitchen, making faces and getting ready for work.

That is the Chair that Harriett Dull brought from the kitchen to set in, but Jack didn't know that and sat down in it. So Harriett just stood behind him and walked around getting ready for work.

That is my desk chair next to the Computer and printer, but I ended up never getting out of my Lazy boy since there were open seats. It is a great chair, I like it a lot. But it was just easier staying in the living room. The travel time would have been murder.

That's a small drop leaf table. I was going to put a chair in the corner and Adjutant Katie White could use the table to take notes. But she was out of town with Mike and could not attend.

That is the Chair Michael Warren was going to sit in, next to Katie White. But he was out of town on business and did not attend, greatly disappointing Tucker and Cassidy.

This is the place William Morice the treasurer, sat in last time so I figured, if he was able to attend, he would have sat there. Bill had eye surgery and had a Doctor's note. He submitted his report by email.

This is where Jr. V-Cdr. Dave Ricklis sat. He did a great job from this seat. Next time, we will make sure he sits there again so he can continue doing a great job from that seat. Dave hopes to become Sr. V-Commander and earn a chair in the future.

So, even without pictures, you can see we had a great time we had discussing and pondering the fait and future of Post 1814. Sleep well, you are in good hands.

2020 Proposed Post Schedule and volunteers

*** This is the proposed list of activities for 2020. We need events and coordinator/chairs for the events. Our mission is to support veterans,

support our active duty military as well as recognize outstanding contributions to the Scottish and Military communities. It is also part of our

mission to teach the traditions and customs of the US Military and the Scottish culture. When you think of an event, look for ways it can help

meet our missions.
