    As President of the Scottish Amateur FootballAssociation, I amdelighted towelcomeyouall toThe Excelsior Stadium for tonight’s final of theOver 35’s Challenge Cup.

    Wewould all like to congratulate Possil YMAFCand Cumbernauld Colts A.F.C. for reaching thefinal.

    We are sure it will be a great spectacle for over 35’s football with bothteams hoping to go on and win the trophy, which of course was wonlast year by one of tonight’s competing teams, Possil YM AFC.

    I would also like to thanks Chris Wilson the 35’s match Secretary forall his work and organisation in bringing the competition to itsconclusion tonight, no easy task as I’m sure Chris would agree!

    It would be remiss of me not to thank everyone involved withAirdrieonians Football Club, and in particular Scott Hetherington, forallowing us to use this great stadium to stage the Final, and further fortheir outstanding commitment to Amateur Football which I hope andtrust will continue for a long time to come.

    In conclusion, I would like to thank all who have been involved in thecompetition, be it players, management or committees, yourdedication, no matter how small is a credit to you, and is very muchappreciated.

    I hope you all enjoy this evening’s game, and may the best team onthe night come out triumphant.

    This evening is the culmination of my first season as Match Secretaryand Iwould like to thankall the teamswhoentered this year’s competitionfor their help in getting us to the final. I would also thank all the matchofficial who have officiated in all the round of cup, like themor loath them,without them we would have no football.

    Can I also thank the Thomas, Stephen, Mary and George of the SAFAfor their help and advice in the administration of the tournament. Can Ithank all at Airdrie Football Club for allowing us to host the final again thisyear.

    Congratulations to both clubs Possil YM and Cumbernauld Colts havingwon through five rounds to reach this year’s final from 63 competingclubs to play here at tonight’s final. Can I also congratulate our matchofficials tonight Referee James Gallacher, Assistant referees RickyCrowe and Ian Hamilton, Fourth Official Raymond Patterson.

    The final is a special occasion for both the clubs and match officials andI hope they all enjoy their evening. Having watched a few games inprevious rounds and both semi-finals I am looking forward to an excitingfinal which I am sure will promote over 35s football.

    Finally can I wish all involved in tonight’s gameall the very best and hopeeveryone enjoys the occasion.

    I would like to extend a warm welcome to allsupporters and in particular to both supporters,player and mangers of both Possil YM andCumbernauld Colts, to Excelsior Stadium, Airdrie,who are playing in tonight’s final for the Over 35sScottish Cup Final.
