Blumhouse ProductionsThis production company was founded by Jason Blum that specialises in the production of high quality, low budget, horror films.Blumhouse holds a ‘first look’ deal with Universal Pictures, allowing the other company to invest in Blumhouse productions before all else and giving both companies and edge. This company holds claim to productions such as: The Purge, Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Sinister and Dark Skies.Using budgets of no more than $5 million, this company is capable of producing huge success stories of the horror genre like Paranormal Activity; however, the success of some of Blumhouse’s productions are a combination of skill and luck, making the company a slightly risky investment due to the uncertainty of their success, with Blumhouse productions like ‘The Boy Next Door’ having critical receptions.

Blumhouse Productions

This production company would

be the most suitable to

produce our film – ‘The Shadows That Guide Us’.

Its expertise and almost

exclusivity, in low budget

horror films, makes the

company ideal for its

knowledge, experience and

success.

Hammer FilmsThis production company would be the second

choice to produce our

film.It holds large

experience and expertise in the production of

horror films, and has produced some of the

most successful of the genre in

history. However the company has

created some failures, and its large budgets make it risky.

New Line Cinema

This company would be the third choice in

production company.

Its few but large success stories

within the horror genre

show that the company holds knowledge and

skill in their production, and

their synogy with Warner

Bros. only works to provide them

with a larger budget and resources.

Vertigo FilmsThe UK based, independent production

company would be our fourth

choice. Its ability to create

successful films from very low budgets and

using new talent makes them a

very viable option for their

skill in production,

though their lack of experience in the horror genre makes them less

suitable.

CBS FilmsThis company would be our

fifth choice. As an American

based company with some

experience in successful horror films; its lack of consistent films from the genre

suggests it is not their forte. As an American based company, it also

may not be suitable for our UK based film.
