EXAMPLE: Problem: Sharon disturbs the class. She talks too loud and she distracts the students. 1) How do you feel?

I do not appreciate Sharon’s disturbing the class.

2) Give 2 possible solutions.

She should either wait to talk at break time or stay home and study alone.

Problem 1: The children make too much noise and I can’t study.

I do not appreciate their making so much noise.

They should either play outside or they could watch TV silently.

Their littering drives me crazy.

I can’t stand their littering.

They should either throw it in the trash can or hold on to their trash until they find a trash can.

Problem 3: My classmate, Billy, speaks too low. I can’t understand him clearly.

Billy’s not speaking clearly annoys me. His mumbling gets on my nerves.

Billy should either speak louder or he should talk into a microphone!!!

Problem 4: Yuri always wants to borrow my material.

I am annoyed at his insisting on borrowing my material all the time.

Yuri should either bring his own material or do without.

I feel that his answering the cell phone in the library is really annoying.

He should either turn off his cell phone or answer it outside in the hall.

I am not very pleased about Jane’s constant complaining.

Jane should either stop complaining or offer a solution to the problems that annoy her.

Problem 7: My neighbors’ music is too loud. I can’t listen to MY music!!

I can’t stand their playing such loud music.

They should either turn down the music or use headphones.

I resent my parents’ not trusting my friends.

My parents should either get to know my friends better or meet my friends’ parents.
