Aurecon Ports and coastal2
Major ports and coastal projects are often
on the critical path for their entire design
and delivery. The urgency of completion
means clients look for innovative ways
to achieve this, be it through delivery
modes, smart engineering solutions or
modularisation, without compromising on
As a global market leader in the design,
construction, maintenance and upgrade
of ports and coastal infrastructure,
Aurecon tailors multidisciplinary solutions
that is tailored to our clients’ needs, with a
surety of delivery timeframes and quality,
is one of the prime reasons clients work
with Aurecon to deliver their key ports and
coastal projects.
intimate knowledge our teams have of the
facilities on which they work enables our
project teams to add real value to projects
through a targeted, ‘no frills’ approach,
where we identify the project components
required to make the project a success and
meet the client’s objectives. In addition to
the initial development of facilities, our
clients also turn to us for ongoing support
with asset management and capital
upgrade projects.
We do not compromise on Health & Safety.
a core value for Aurecon. We foster this

development of port facilities market
to facilitate growth and development
in this fast growing region. The project,
undertaken in joint venture with
Halcrow, includes site data collection,
master planning, concept development,
preliminary and detailed design.
The project includes eight container
iron ore import berths, two petrochemical
berths, two crude oil import berths, 10 steel
berths. To support this projected trade, an
18 000 ha industrial estate surrounding the
proposed port is planned.

The study involved detailed analysis of
multiple aspects of the supply chain
capital and operation costs to achieve
the nominated operational targets, the
determination of rail and port operating
practices, bulk materials handling

Aurecon provided a trade assessment
of Western Dock for a 30 year period,
a topographic survey and geotechnical
investigation, as well as Western Dock
development options and master planning.
We undertook planning, design costing and
terminal (30 million tonnes per annum
and coal import terminals (20 Mtpa).
Aurecon also provided a dredging
assessment and methodology, and a
for the development of each terminal.

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Australia
Client DBCT Management Pty Ltd
Aurecon has been integrally involved in
the ongoing planning, design and project
delivery of the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal
over its 30 year development history.
We undertook the design and project
management of the initial development,
This engagement continued through
subsequent development, as additional
inloading, stockyard and outloading capacity
has been progressively added.
The most recently completed Stage 7
with three rail receival facilities and
three shiploaders at berths located
four kilometres offshore. It increases the
terminal’s capacity by 50 per cent to a
nameplate rating of 85 Mtpa, making it the
third largest terminal in the world.
Aurecon, in a joint venture with Hatch,
integrated full (EPCM) services for this
in three phases and required careful
integration of multiple disciplines and
stakeholder requirements.
