August in Texas is commonly referred to as “The dog days of Summer.” Speaking of dogs, recently we had an informative and positive meeting with the dog-owners of The Stayton. Those of us who are dog-owners
all love our four-legged friends. At the same time, we have to remember that not everyone is a dog-owner/lover. The dog owners agreed that keeping their pets on a leash, cleaning up after their pets, and not allowing pets in dining and common areas were prudent and understandable policies. I appreciate the willingness of our pet owners to be responsible neighbors. Living and working communally is a great social experience, but there can be things that we sometimes see differently. The key to success is open, honest, and respectful dialogue, much like a family. As future disagreements arise, let’s remember that as a family – we have to keep the dialogue going. On behalf of the staff here at The Stayton, thank you for being part of our family.

Two months ago I posted a list of books that needed to be returned to the library. As of now, only two books have been returned. I have decided this is a lost cause and I need to accept the fact that the books are not going to be returned. What puzzles me about this is, those who read mysteries and large print books return the books to the library. The problem lies with those who read fiction and nonfiction and not returning the books when they finish reading them. NEW ADDITIONS TO THE LIBRARY
