in the Portland 3 Bays Marathon. The 3 Bays marathon is a wonderful local event held
on Sunday the 3rd of November. Students will be part of the Portland South team and
run a relay from start to finish in 1km blocks.
Students will be required to participate in training each week leading up to the event.
In order to be eligible for the team the students must demonstrate their commitment
to training both during lunch sessions and PE lessons.
On the day of the event, parents will be required to drop their child off at a common
meeting place and the children will be bused around the course. Parents will also be
required to pick up their child at the finish line (Henty Hotel). More information will be
sent home at the beginning of next term.

Principal For A Day Australian Council For Educational Research
Next Tuesday, we will be welcoming Cr Anita Rank, the Mayor of the Glenelg Shire to Portland South
Primary School. Mayor Rank will step out of the council chambers and into Mrs Fisher’s principal seat
for the 19th annual Principal For A Day event on 3rd September 2019.
Principal For A Day offers a first-hand experience of a ‘day in the life’ of a Victorian government school
principal.
Mrs Fisher says the event provides mutual benefits for schools and business/community leaders. “We
are excited to welcome Mayor Anita Rank to our school and we look forward to exchanging ideas, visit-
ing classes, talking to students and taking part in ‘normal’ daily activities.”
“Principal For A Day provides us with an excellent opportunity to enable Mayor Rank to gain unique
insights into the learning environment at our school.”
Being involved in the Principal for a Day program offers an insight into the future of education and ena-
bles us to work together, share skills, and build an ongoing relationship.
The ‘Principal For A Day’ initiative aims to:
increase understanding and awareness between schools, business and the wider community
promote the work of schools
provide business and community leaders with first-hand and current experiences of schools
enable school principals to develop ongoing relationships with leaders from other spheres
increase opportunities for schools and the community to work together in mutually beneficial ways.
We are really looking forward to participating in the Principal For A Day initiative next Tuesday. It will
be wonderful to have Mayor Rank visit our fantastic school.
