Hark, ye, lover of free samples!

This is what May tastes like.

What began with thirteen farmers in a Portland parking lot has blossomed into a nationally

renowned foodie playground of local produce, organic dairy,

fresh fish, and imaginative baked goods. Now with over 250 vendors,

The Portland Farmers Market is bringing the best of the country to

the heart of the city every Saturday.(and Sunday and Monday and

Wednesday and Thursday)

Twenty-five straight days of rain made for some soggy shopping,

but we’re pretty sure this month’s peonies are nature’s way of saying

“I’m really, really sorry.”

Come forgive our well-intentioned skies at:

PSU, Pioneer Square, Shemanski, Buckman, NW 23rd, King, and

Portland Metro

Blueberry-scented tracks line every square inch of our walls and furniture, so trust me, my kids are familiar with the "hands-on" portion of Kids Cook at the Market. Each Saturday they meet local farmers, talk about fresh ingredients, and learn to cook far, far away from my poor carpet.

I worry that my children might be geckos. Their big eyes, the bug chasing, those sticky fingers – it all adds up. I find handprints in places even I can't reach.

$5 babysitting from 8:30 to 10am at PSU
