RECOMMENDED USESTitan America® Portland Cement Type III is generally referred to as a "hi-early"cement. It reaches its strength earlier in the hydration process and therefore isused extensively in pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete products such as bridgebeams and columns. It is also frequently used for cold-weather concrete work.

SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALITIESTitan America® Portland Cement Type III is chemically and physically similar toType I cement, except that its particles have been ground finer. It is used whenforms need to be stripped as soon as possible or when the structure must beput into service quickly. Portland cements are hydraulic cements composedprimarily of hydraulic calcium silicates. Hydraulic cements set and harden byreacting chemically with water. The reaction called hydration occurs as water isadded to the cement to form a rocklike formation. Titan America® PortlandCement Type III meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM C-150.

INSTRUCTIONSTitan America® Portland Cement Type III

• The one bag mix referenced in the table above will yield 5.17 cubic feet or15 square feet of concrete at 4 inches thick.

• Use no more than 5-1/2 gallons of water per bag of cement. • Mix thoroughly and cure by keeping it damp for 4 to 7 days.

CEMENT PREPARATIONType III cement is utilized in projects where the forms are removed quickly afterthe pour or when the structure must be up and running quickly. Pre-castcolumns and panels, bridge beams, and building supports are among theapplications that benefit from Type III cement, especially in cold weatherwork.

ACCESSORY PRODUCTSAggregates can be added to meet specific job requirements. Aggregates forconcrete should be clean, free of chemicals, coatings of clay, or other finematerials that may affect the hydration and bond of the cement paste. Potablewater is required.
