Most retention facility do not typically design of the facility takes into accounthe landscape. Stormwater runs naturamix, air flotation, granular activated caresidents as a recreational venue, and tbilities of integrating industrial facilitie

inspire visits, but our team’s design for the CSO retention facility doubles as a public park with educational tours where visitors can learn about water purification and conservation. The t its natural setting with a building that fuses the architecture with the landscape. Its designs and water is embraced for its reflective properties and ability to connect architecture with ally across the site and the roof and is filtered and cleaned through the four different landscapes, each inspired by the internal working of the water treatment processes below: rapid arbon filtration and a clear well. Landscaping rather than pipes circulate the stormwater into the treatment plant. The park, a natural wetland and sprinkler playground, brings to local he project could educate the public about clear water, protecting riparian resources, and encouraging sustainable wetlands stewardship. The CSO retention facility exemplifies the possi-

BLACKWATER CIRCULATION

The retention facility captures 20% of overflow from the canal. The blackwater is processed through primary screening and debris control system that to be stored in the tank. During the weather event when the tanks are fully filled, the rest of the blackwater is pumped back to either to Red Hook FaciRed Hook is full. The stored blackwater is pumped up to the treatment facility for purification.

GREYWATER CIRCULATION

The retention facility will collect rainwater in order to minimize sewer overflow and to recycle for community use. Rainwater will be collected from the ing and operation. It will then be collected in order to be sent to the treatment facility for purification.

As the dramatic economic development in Korea brought more people to cities, families spread out and often people had no local, extended family to take care of the elderly when they are in need. The result was a growing number of single and wid-owed people with no one to take care of them in their old age.

- LaboratoryIntegrated stormwater management has the potential to address many issues affecting the health of waterways. The most popular is to incorporate land-based solutions to handle stormwater runoff through the use of retention ponds and bioswales. The proposal for the project is hybridization between nature and architecture to reuse stormwater for laboratories.

Wetlands perform significant economic benefits to human society, including some ecosystem services that no other ecosystem can provide, including certain types of water quality improvement, flood protection, shoreline erosion control, opportunities for recreation and aesthetic appreciation, and natural products for our use at no cost. Protecting wetlands in turn can protect our safety and welfare.

The river which flows around site serves the resource for research workers and the habitat for various types of animals as well. Moreover, stormwatercould be preserved in the artificial pond on the laboratories’ roof and reuse for studying the ecology of the wetlands.
