This apartment is located in Club de golf Bosques in Mexico City, it belongs to a family with two kids. The main concept for this proj-ect was based on modular walls that could function as a piece of furniture according to each area. The modular furniture lets the

users adapt the spaces ac-cording to their everyday needs, softening the transition between areas. This piece begins in the vestibule as a plafond and di-vides to a door that serves as lattice window and to the bar countertop. Separating the so-

cial area from the family room and the private rooms. The mas-ter bedroom has direct access to the office which at the same time connects with the play room, this serves as a transition from the kids room to the master bedroom and to the family room.

FALL 2013Amanali House

This project is located in Hidal-go, Mexico. The clients are two brothers and their families. The main concept was based on a mexican hacienda, keeping a central comunal garden between the houses, allowing privacy to each family and at the same time

mantaining both houses as one. Both houses mantain the same area distribution, leaving the so-cial and service areas downstairs and the private rooms on the second floor. Both living rooms have a soft transition to the cen-tral garden with a pool between

them. The material used on the terrace as well as inside the pool was the same, giving the feel-ing that the pool wasn’t there, just a reflection a in the middle. The brick used on the facade, which is local, allowed a game of lights on the second floor .

FALL 2013MAGG Expo

MAGG is a leading manufacturer of lighting fixtures in Mexico.The expo included fictures for residential, corporate, urban and outdoor use. There were two main interventions in the stand, one with plants and the other with lightweighted concrete

panels. The green stand was designed with regional plants over a wood structure which allowed the exhibition of some outdoor lighting fixtures. As part of the exhibition we designed a lightweighted concrete wall. The geometric pattern allowed us

to create stackable modules . We used color leds to iluminate the panels, a two tone lighting resalted the triangles in three different tones, creating a really interesting textured wall. The re-sult was astonishing and people responded to this prototype.

This palliative care center aimsto provide persons with a termi-nal illness well-being, keeping inmind the physical, emotional and psychological pain. The design was based according to this statement, so the pa-tient would be as comfortable

as possible during their last days. According to the holistic concept, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, in this case the mind, body and spirit. Therefore, each of the areasshould address this need: the integration of mind, body and

spirit. All vertical movement was avoided, to give the user independence within the facil-ity. Home automation systems were implemented in each room to facilitate the patient’s stay in the center and give more au-tonomy in their terminal stage.

The private area was fully in-tegrate to nature, so that at all times the patient can relate to it. In addition, rooms will be partitioned to user preference and taste, using modular walls for greater patient comfort.The aim is to relate the social area, through group activities. In addition to providing space for recreation, these areas must be totally or partially accompaniedby landscape features for the comfort and welfare of the user. Having three different mod-ules, this modules would be-come little communities, and incite the patient to socialize with the rest of the patients. To relate to others, and share the same condition through which they all are going through, and soften the weight of their situa-tion. Due to their terminal con-dition, the patient is depressed and this socialization and iden-tification with others helps them. MODULE 1

This project was entered in a con-test for the UDESIGN Congress in Mexico. The idea of this proj-ect was to create a pavilion made out of only recycled material. We named our project “rebirth”, to create conscience of how garbage, or what we consider

garbage, could be transformed into a valuable building material. The final project had to change, the first proposed structure was more complex and due to lack of time and money we had to find a way to still keep the main con-cept alive but make it buildable

since we only had one month. For this pavilion we collected 6,000 cans, cleaned them, cut and folded with the help of our classmates. The pavilion was successfully mounted for exhi-bition in the Fundidora Park in the city of Monterrey, Mexico.

This project is located in the northeast part of Mexico . This location has extremely high tem-peratures, so the main concept of the design was implement-ing green solutions. Bringing in nature was also important, thiswas accomplished with win-

dows. On the first floor the ad-ministrative and dental rooms were located. On the second floor are located the three op-erating rooms and six patients rooms, being this last ones for ambulatory patients mostly. The operating rooms have all the

sterile area. The materials pro-posed for this project are mainly adobe, since it has high thermal performance. For the same rea-son green walls on the south facade were part of the design.Another part of the proposal was the green roofs implemented.

The project design was based on graphs and diagrams, para-metric architecture, where the variables of these plots were defined by the impact of wind on each of the orientations of the property. A study of wind circulation on 5 levels was per-

formed , i.e. as the wind flows at 1 in the streets, to level 5 to 15m high, which is not interrupt-ed but directed by the currents. Facades are modulated with an imaginary grid, each of the mod-ules obtained a value depend-ing on the impact of the wind.

Through this grid graphs were created corresponding to the values obtained in the study. By bringing together the perimeter lines a preliminary volume was obtained. Later this volume was adequate to the needs of the project presented in this case.

The building has an under-ground parking lot and five floors of apartments and stu-dios. In the first level are the social areas, pool and gym. The building has nine studios of40-60m2 located on the first and second levels, while at the fol-lowing levels are twelve apart-ments of 90-120m2. The ver-tical circulation is through an elevator that is at the center and emergency stairs are located down the hall. The gate houseis located at the entrance to underground parking lot. All apartments have intersect-ing windows or sliding doors with a balcony, which also provide shade for the lower apartments. The shape of thebuilding also prevents an area of being over exposed to the sun for more than a few hours. During the winter the sun would warmthe entire building due to its tri-angular shape pointing north.
